Weekly recap...SETH MOULTON.

On Tuesday, in the aftermath of Trump's racist tweet-rants, Seth went on ABC and said "it's time to move forward with impeaching President Trump: "Mueller has made it very clear that we have a constitutional duty to pursue impeachment." You can listen to the full conversation here.

Seth put it simply: "Trump is a racist. He sides with Nazis. He banned an entire religion from our country. He uses the office to enrich himself. He obstructed justice. Of course we have to impeach him.”
He went on to layout the full argument for impeachment this week when he addressed Young Democrats of America in Indianapolis.

“There are times in your life where you either fight for what you believe in, or live to regret it forever. That is why we must do our constitutional and patriotic duty and impeach Donald Trump. [His] crimes won’t matter until we make them matter. Laws are meaningless unless they are enforced. And that ball is in our court.”

He countered the “political wisdom” that says impeachment may backfire by saying “When impeachment proceedings started against Richard Nixon, only 19% of Americans believed he should be removed from office. The lesson from Nixon is not to follow the polls but to ignore them. To bend them in our favor rather than sitting back and hoping they will swing our way. Because leaders don’t follow polls. Polls follow leaders.”

He concluded with “In short, we must show everyone who Donald Trump really is. And if the House sends an impeached president to the Senate, I’m just fine with the American people getting to see Mitch McConnell—who is up for reelection in 2020—covering for a criminal while we stand up for justice.”

The fact is, Democrats have a constitutional and patriotic obligation to begin impeachment proceedings. It’s just the right thing to do.

But, David, impeachment hardly came up in the last debates. Seth is tough enough to take on Donald Trump and fight for our values. He’s been fighting for American values his whole lifefirst in the Marines, then in Congress, and now in this candidacy. And if you put him on the debate stage in September, he will bring this existential issue to the forefront of this primary. Can you chip in to make that happen?

Thank you for another great week
Team Moulton
