Endorsement I'm really proud of. CONGRESSIONAL CANDIDATE PAT RYAN.

Hi David -- Yesterday, Moms Demand Action added me to their list of candidates they're supporting. That means a lot to me, especially after I've taken an outspoken position on stopping gun violence, bucking the "DC conventional wisdom" that you can't talk about guns in places like NY-19. Now less than 90 days from the primary. Thanks to your support, the campaign is going really well.

Every day is a sprint. And we have a major deadline on Saturday--my FINAL quarterly filing deadline before the primary. (Honestly, I don't think anyone is more excited than I am that this is the last one.)

It's going to take more than money to win. Which is why I told my team I want to knock on thousands of doors before the primary.

Conor Lamb's win in a district that Trump won by 20 points still has me fired up. He did it because earned the trust of voters that Dems haven't been able to reach in a while. I'm following a similar path in my race (in a district Trump won by 7). My approach is getting noticed. Charlie Cook (one of the top political forecasters) ranks me as a front-runner in the primary and I've earned the backing of former DCCC Chairman Steve Israel.

Truly: THANK YOU.

Best,
Pat

AMERICAN PHILOSOPHICAL ASSOCIATION- THE VALUE OF PUBLIC PHILOSOPHY.

American Philosophical Association

(I AM A MEMBER.- DAVID.)

Dear DAVID,
I am writing today to let you know that the APA board of officers has approved the following statement, which was proposed by the committee on public philosophy and the committee on the status and future of the profession:

The American Philosophical Association values philosophers' participation in the public arena. This includes work that engages with contemporary issues as well as work that brings traditional philosophies to non-traditional settings. Public philosophy may also bring the discipline into dialogue with other humanities, the arts, natural sciences, social sciences, and interested people outside of academia. Public philosophy is done in a variety of traditional and non-traditional media. Public philosophy can be especially valuable when it reaches populations that tend not to have access to philosophy and philosophers. Further, the APA notes that public philosophy raises the profile of the discipline, the scholar, and the home institution.

The APA encourages departments, colleges, and universities to recognize public philosophy as a growing site of scholarly involvement. To that end, the APA encourages institutions to develop standards for evaluating and practices for rewarding public philosophy in decisions regarding promotion, tenure, and salary, so that faculty members who are interested in this work may, if they choose, pursue it with appropriate recognition and without professional discouragement or penalty. Although peer-reviewed scholarly publications remain central to the profession, the APA applauds philosophers' contributions to public policy, to consultation with government, medical, business, and civil society institutions, and to public opinion in general. Public philosophy presented or published outside of standard academic venues has evident value as external service to the profession and/or community. But we also urge institutions to consider broadening their standards for evidence of excellence in research and teaching and to consider whether their faculty’s work in public philosophy is more properly counted as contributing to these latter categories of faculty evaluation.

We encourage you to use this statement as a tool in your own institution to advocate for policies and practices that recognize public philosophy and all scholars who do publicly engaged work.

All the best,
Amy E. Ferrer
Executive Director

This isn't about politics or fundraising. CONGRESSIONAL CANDIDATE JASON RITTEREISER.

(AS YOU MAY HAVE NOTICED, I HAVE SUSPENDED MY RULE AGAINST PUBLISHING ANY REQUESTS
FOR DONATIONS. THIS RARELY HAPPENS, BUT I THINK IT IS APPROPRIATE IN THIS CASE.)

David,
Tonight I’m taking a few hours off of the campaign trail for something much more important than political fundraising deadlines.
Earlier this year, Pierce County Sheriff’s Deputy Daniel McCartney was killed in the line of duty and his loss has been felt throughout our community. Please take a moment to read this touching obituary from his family.
I grew up in a law enforcement family, so my dad and I will be attending a concert tonight to benefit Deputy McCartney’s wife and three sons. If you’re in the area and can attend, I encourage you to do so. If you can’t make it, please consider making a donation to the legacy fund established by TAPCO Credit Union in his honor. I know anything you can give to help Tytus, Tate, and Traxton will be greatly appreciated.

SURVEYS AND POLLS. Rules to live by. #1.

Development, Process, Pear, Think, Idea, Questions
MANIPULATING THE RESULTS IS TO EASY.

This should be a given, but it is often not reported or ignored; That Survey or Poll results can be greatly influenced by the Tactics of those conducting them.

Example-  How often do you here a poll prefaced by the words like...

"... among registered..."

"...survey of likely voters..."

"...who identify themselves as.."

"...popularity among age groups..."

What do they all have in common? They tell us virtually nothing.

-  Where did the questioning take place?  Particularly, the "COMMUNITY."  Even in a small city or town, political differences can vary greatly, so knowing the exact locations can give us an indication about the validity of reported results.

-  How much of the information acquired about those who were interviewed or polled, was self- reported or unverifiable?

-  What were the guidelines or standards set that could disqualify an individuals answers from being included in the final results?

-  If there was more than a single question asked, was each individual asked ALL of them, or did previous answers influence the length of the interview?

-  What protocols were in place to guarantee that the Interviewers or Pollsters followed proper procedures?

NEVER ASSUME THAT POLL RESULTS, EVEN IF THEY ARE IN FAVOR OF YOUR POINT OF VIEW, WERE CONDUCTED WITHOUT BIAS, WITH ALL SIDES TREATED FAIRLY. TO OFTEN THIS LEAVES US WONDERING...

..."WHERE DID IT ALL GO WRONG?"

Integrity, Civility, Courage. CONGRESSIONAL CANDIDATE KEN HARBAUGH.

We live these words here at Team Harbaugh, David. That’s why I am proud to announce this latest endorsement. With Honor is a bipartisan group that supports military veterans in order to “create a more effective and less polarized government.”

I recently took their pledge:
Integrity -- I will always speak the truth and prioritize the public interest above my self-interest.
Civility -- I will respect my colleagues, focus on solving problems and work to bring civility to politics.
Courage -- I will defend the rights of all Americans and have the courage to collaborate across the aisle and find common ground.
I promise to put the needs of Ohioans before the needs of special interests. I promise to solve problems and make laws that benefit everyone. I promise to put the good of this country first.
In service,
Ken Harbaugh

Side by Side. HILLARY CLINTON, ONWARD TOGETHER.

David --

This past weekend, I traveled to Rochester, New York to pay tribute to the life of the great Representative Louise Slaughter, and watched as young activists showed us that the future leaders of the progressive movement are smart, diverse, and not waiting for an invitation to get up and make their voices heard.

I found myself thinking about the ways in which activism and public service can make life richer. After all, there's no better way to meet people who are passionate about your passions than by fighting, side by side, for what's right.

I'm so grateful to be able to share these fights with you, David, and to have you as part of the Onward Together family. Today, I hope you'll take a moment to learn a little more about Collective PAC, another one of the groups that we're working with, in their fight to find and elect more African-American legislators and make our democracy a little more equal.

Onward!

Hillary

Onward Together works to build a brighter future for generations to come by supporting groups that encourage people to organize in their communities or run for office. Because you're an important part of Onward Together, we wanted you to get a chance to know these groups a little bit better. To learn more about Onward Together, click here.

The organization: Collective PAC

The organizers: Quentin James and Stefanie Brown James, former key strategists and organizers for the Sierra Club, NAACP, and Obama for America campaigns.

The mission: To fix the underrepresentation of African Americans in elected office by working to find, support, fund and elect African-American candidates.

The story: Collective PAC was created in 2016, when two politicos set out to close the gap in representation for African American constituents. In less than two years, they've helped 23 candidates win at the local, state and federal level, raised nearly $1,000,000, and launched The Black Campaign School and The Black Political Power Summit.

The latest: With the primary season underway, Collective PAC has swung into action, with 38 endorsed candidates on the ballot this year at statewide, federal, and municipal levels. They're also focused on building the power of black voters and donors through training and support programs.

The next step: Head to collectivepac.org to join the fight for equal representation and get involved in 2018 efforts today.

Dangerous to our democracy. U.S. SENATOR JEANNE SHAHEEN.

Undemocratic. Un-American. Unacceptable.
David: For years, the GOP’s gerrymandering – or drawing of unfair voting districts –
has silenced the voices of millions of Americans, time and again allowing Republicans to
steal a majority of statewide seats even while Democrats earn more votes.

Make no mistake about it: Gerrymandering is a fundamental threat to our democracy, our
belief in equality, and our free and fair elections. If we don’t take meaningful action against
it before November, Democrats could be locked out of office for years to come, left unable
to fight back against President Trump’s agenda.

So David, I’m counting on you to join the fight before it’s too late.
Thank you.
Jeanne

A Good Deal. CONGRESSMAN DAVID CICILLINE.

Dear David,

Every day in Congress, I fight for the priorities that I know are important to Rhode Island. Yesterday, I voted to approve the federal government spending bill because it’s great for Rhode Island and advances those priorities. This bill is a victory for working families, small business owners, seniors, students, and first responders across Rhode Island.

The spending bill increases funding to support manufacturing, rebuild our crumbling infrastructure, and put more Rhode Islanders back to work in good-paying jobs. I’m also pleased that it increases funding for afterschool programs, early childhood education, financial aid for students, including Pell Grants, and programs to prevent childhood lead poisoning that will benefit children and families. It provides for increased funding for police officers and firefighters. It ensures veterans get the mental health care they need and helps seniors with the burden of high energy costs. It’s a good deal for working families.

March for Our Lives

I am looking forward to joining more than a thousand Rhode Islanders on Saturday at the State House for the March for Our Lives. This national movement - started by the students who survived the recent Parkland shooting in Florida – is demanding Congress and elected leaders across the country take meaningful action to prevent these kinds of tragedies from ever happening again.

The Republican leadership in Congress continues to refuse to take any action on even a single bill to address gun violence. But thanks to the leadership of these remarkable young people, I’m confident that this time is different.

I urge you to join us on Saturday at 1pm to make your voice heard.

Facebook Breach

Last week, it was reported that Cambridge Analytica, a political data firm, harvested the personal information—including location, political views, religious beliefs, and online activities—of at least 50 million Americans on Facebook “to exploit what [it] knew about them and target their inner demons” and “fight a culture war in America.” Most people did not consent to the use of their data or were unaware of its misuse.

Child Care for Working Families

...I have co-sponsored the Child Care for Working Families Act to ensure that no middle class family has to pay more than 7% of their income to afford high-quality affordable child care. It would also support universal access to high-quality preschool programs for all 3- and 4-year olds and raise the wages of the child care workers who educate and protect our children. To learn more about our proposal, you can watch my remarks calling for A Better Deal here

St. Joseph’s Day

I always look forward to celebrating St. Joseph’s day! This year, I was particularly proud to join the Order Sons of Italy in America Lodge #364 in honoring Commander Thomas A. Verdi, a tremendous leader in the Providence Police Department. I have known Commander Verdi for years, and congratulate him on this well-deserved honor.

As always, if you or someone you know has any questions or concerns, please call my office at 729-5600 or send me an email at David.Cicilline@mail.house.gov . You can also click here  to follow my work on Twitter.

Indivisible endorses Jason with 58% of the vote! CONGRESSIONAL CANDIDATE JASON RITTEREISER.

David,

It’s Jason here. I wanted to make sure you saw the most important news of the race so far: we won the only straw poll of voters in the 8th district with 58% of the vote! I am incredibly humbled by this outpouring of support and want you to know how much it means to me.

This victory secured the endorsement of the coalition of six Indivisible groups in our district -- and mobilized hundreds of dedicated activists for our campaign. These activists have been among the most engaged in the race so far, and they voted for our campaign by a 16 point margin.

This endorsement is huge news, David: With the support of Indivisible and the organizing power of our grassroots campaign, we have the momentum on our side.

Now we need to make sure that our winning message reaches every voter in the 8th. If we’re going to flip this critical district in November, we have to build on this momentum now.

Thanks for all your support,
Jason

What we’ve been up to this weeK. CONGRESSIONAL CANDIDATE JOSH WELLE.

Hey David,
Team Welle has been all over the district this week meeting dedicated members of the community.
Here’s where we’ve been:
Saturday, Josh spent the morning at the 29th Annual Pilgrim Baptist Church Community Breakfast in Red Bank. Great, uplifting music and wonderful fellowship
Sunday, Josh met with the renowned activist group Girls on the Bus in Spring Lake to discuss the challenges facing CD4 voters.

Josh did a Facebook Live Tuesday Town Hall with Zachary Dougherty, local high school student-activist who's helping to coordinate the official NJ March for Our Lives in Newark, Red Bank, and Asbury Park.
Josh attended Taco Tuesday, a meet & greet hosted by the Neptune City Democrats.

It’s been a busy week, with an even busier one ahead.
Thanks for all your support!

Up next on CNN: The OH-7! CONGRESSIONAL CANDIDATE KEN HARBAUGH.

I just wanted to make sure you saw the team’s email. Ken was on CNN this week -- you should check it out.
We are working hard here at Team Harbaugh to run a different kind of campaign – one that engages with every voter. Our volunteers are out on the doors and here on the phones, and listening to what Ohioans need most.
Let’s give everyone the chance to hear Ken’s call to serve.
In service,
Matt Dutko
Comms Team

Team,
Did you see Ken’s CNN interview with Ana Cabrera last night?
They talked about how the OH-7 is the next PA-18. Ana even calls Ken “Conor Lamb” at one point.
The wave is real. And Ohio is the next battleground.
Leaders like Ken.

In service,
Team Harbaugh

Photos from the Trail. CONGRESSIONAL CANDIDATE PAT RYAN.

Hi David,

March has already been a busy month on the trail and I wanted to catch you up on what we’ve been doing on the ground here in NY-19.

Thanks to your support my campaign has been crushing our petitioning goals and we’ve amped up our field program this month. People across NY-19 have been helping us organize and collect petition signatures to get me on the ballot. Here are some of my favorite moments from March so far:

We started collecting signatures on March 6th to get my name on the ballot. I love this shot of our Field Director Brit prepping packets for volunteers. I’m lucky to have such an amazing team working with me and recruiting volunteers everyday.

Our team even got my parents out making calls to support my campaign. I couldn’t ask for two better people to be on the phones talking me up.

Speaking of our awesome team, this is Ciara, Alexis, and Max before they went out to smash our petition goals. I LOVE Alexis’ shirt. It says it all, “No more thoughts and prayers, policy change now.”

I met Noelle after a forum in Hillsdale. She was standing outside in the parking lot when I was leaving with a handmade sign around her neck to let people know she was petitioning for me because she thinks I’m the only one who can beat Faso. This was one of the coolest moments of the campaign for me so far!

Here’s me at Indivisible Chatham New York’s CANDI-DATING event in Ghent. Really appreciated the chance to connect with small groups of voters up close.

Conor Lamb won his special election in PA and my friend Seth Moulton gave me a shout out in a discussion with The New York Times about how my campaign can replicate Conor’s win in our tough district. I’m fired up!!!

Alexis and Caroline from Team Ryan stood with Planned Parenthood Mid-Hudson Valley Action at Faso Friday to demand our representatives protect women's health, especially crucial Title X funding.

While collecting signatures, I knocked on a door looking for a 19 year-old Democrat named Luke, but his dad Matt, a Republican answered and spoke with me anyway. He told me he didn’t care about political parties and that he cared about getting rid of politicians who only look out for themselves instead of doing their job to represent the people.

We have a major opportunity to win this year-- folks across the country are tired of what’s happening in Washington and they want a leader who will have the courage to drive change. Having the chance to talk with voters like Matt is one of the best things about canvassing.

Thanks to everyone who’s been petitioning, canvassing, phone banking, coming out to events, and donating to our campaign. The momentum on the ground is strong. This is our moment. I can’t do this without you all.

How can you help? We're looking for volunteers to carry petitions for us to make sure we're on the ballot. If you're interested, reach out to our amazing Field Director Brit atBrit@patryanforcongress.com.

Thanks for stepping up -- together, we're already making NY-19 a better place.

-- Pat

I'm with Krysten. U.S. SENATOR CORY BOOKER.

David,

My friend Kyrsten Sinema needs your help.

Kyrsten is running to be Arizona’s next Senator.

With Jeff Flake’s retirement, it’s an open seat – and a must-win if Democrats are going to take back the Senate in November.

Kyrsten’s Republican opponent is Joe Arpaio. His cruel and bigoted actions and his hateful rants hurt so many and unfairly smeared Arizona and Arizonans.

Now Kyrsten is taking Arpaio head-on. She’s fighting back against his extremism and bigotry.

With the first FEC deadline for 2018 approaching, it’s critical Kyrsten show she has the grassroots strength to defeat Joe Arpaio...

Arpaio has only been in the race two months, but he’s attracting a lot of attention – and support.

As a close friend of President Trump, Arpaio is benefiting from massive amounts of cash coming from national contributors rushing to help him out. We’ll know just how much when Arpaio files his first FEC report at the end of March.

We need to ensure Kyrsten reports the strongest numbers possible in her FEC filing.

Kyrsten’s campaign is building an unparalleled grassroots movement across Arizona. Her FEC report must reflect that growing on-the-ground strength.

Kyrsten’s tough – and she’s a fighter. All her life, she’s overcome serious obstacles.

As Kyrsten runs to fight for hardworking Arizonans in the Senate, she needs our help to take on – and defeat – the cruelty of Joe Arpaio. Will you stand with Kyrsten right now?

Thanks for supporting Kyrsten,

Cory

PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMAS 2015 STATE OF THE UNION SPEECH; A CHALLENGE TO THE INTELLECTUAL AND MORAL OPPOSITION. PT 3.

''DO YOU REMEMBER...BLASTS FROM THE PAST. ANALYSIS OF PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMAS 2016 SOTUS. PT 1," has generated enough reader interest, to the point of reprinting previous sections of PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMAS SOTUS. THE FOLLOWING WAS TAKEN FROM THE 2015 SPEECH.

A Final Analysis of President Obamas 1/20/2015 STATE OF THE UNION SPEECH.

"If you share the broad vision I outlined tonight, join me in the work at hand. If you disagree with parts of it, I hope you’ll at least work with me where you do agree. And I commit to every Republican here tonight that I will not only seek out your ideas, I will seek to work with you to make this country stronger."

Translation-  "It is True that I, and Certain Members of Congress, will probably Disagree about which Issues should take Priority over the Course of the Next Two Years, and what should be done to make things Better for the American people."

"However, what is Most Important does not Lie in the Opposing Views we may have, but in the Method Chosen to Resolve Differences. Instead of Treating One Another Like the Enemy, we must come Together to Accomplish what needs to get Done."

"To make this Happen, I am Reaching Out to the Republican Party.  I Promise to Seek out Your Advice, and Listen to Your Opinions about Resolving the Differences we have, to the Greater Benefit of the American People."

"The Keys are Working Together, Finding Common Ground, and Putting the Best Interests of All Ahead of the Desire to See the Opposition Fail."

Finally, I Think the Following Sums Up PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMAS VISION
FOR A BETTER TOMORROW. ( AGAIN TAKEN FROM THE TRANSCRIPT OF THE SPEECH.)

"For all our blind spots and shortcomings,
we are a people with the strength and generosity of spirit
to bridge divides, to unite in common effort, and help our
neighbors, whether down the street or on the other side of
the world."

"I want our actions to tell every child, in every
neighborhood: your life matters, and we are as committed
to improving your life chances as we are for our own kids."

"We are a people who value the dignity and worth
of every citizen man and woman, young and old, black and white,
Latino and Asian, immigrant and Native American, gay
and straight, Americans with Mental Illness or Physical Disability."

PRETTY RADICAL STUFF, ISN'T IT?

NOW, COMPARE THAT TO ANYTHING DONALD TRUMP HAS SAID
DURING HIS TIME IN OFFICE,,,

...IT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HAVING A DECENT, CARING AND
INTELLECTUALLY GIFTED LEADER ON ONE HAND,,,

...AND AN AMORAL DEMAGOGUE WHO RELIES ON THE MOST VILE
AND CONTEMPTIBLE PARTS OF HUMANITY TO BACK UP HIS DESIRE
TO DESTROY ALL PROGRESS THAT HAS BEEN MADE IN THE LAST
TWO CENTURIES.

Help win the fight against these bogus recalls, David. EMILY's LIST.

Did you hear the good news from Nevada?

Republican attempts to recall state Senators Joyce Woodhouse and Nicole Cannizzaro — whom we helped elect — just hit a major setback.

A Nevada district court judge just upheld a state law that allows voters to withdraw their signatures from recall petitions, potentially removing hundreds of names.

We've had Joyce and Nicole's backs from the start of these bogus recall attempts — which are nothing more than a Republican plot to turn the state Senate red.

But this fight isn't over. There will be another round of signature verification, and this case could go all the way to the Nevada Supreme Court.

...help continue to fight this and other outrageous attempts by Republicans to undermine our women and fair elections.

Thanks,

Jenna Kruse,
Vice President of Research, EMILY's List

MARCH FOR OUR LIVES.... PLANNED PARENTHOOD.

Planned Parenthood
Planned Parenthood Advocacy Fund of Massachusetts, Inc.

Dear SEARCHINGFORREASON.NET,
The past few weeks have been nothing short of inspirational. I have been in awe as young people – from Parkland to Springfield – have walked out, organized for change, and demanded action on gun violence prevention. This incredible movement shows us that young people are not only the future – they are the present and they are a force to be reckoned with.
This Saturday, the Planned Parenthood Advocacy Fund of Massachusetts is proud to participate in March for Our Lives events in Boston, Worcester, and Springfield. Join us to remember the countless lives we have lost to gun violence and stand in solidarity with those leading the fight for change.
We recognize gun violence is a public health crisis – and many of the communities Planned Parenthood serves are disproportionately affected by gun violence, including women, people of color, and LGBTQ people. By working together to prevent gun violence, we can better ensure that Planned Parenthood patients can lead healthier, safer lives.
I hope you’ll join us at a local March for Our Lives event near you and take action to push our country forward.
Thank you,
Kim KargmanOrganizing ManagerPlanned Parenthood Advocacy Fund of Massachusetts
