THE STAKES ARE INCREDIBLY HIGH. SETH MOULTON.

David,

On Sunday night, as many of us were winding down and preparing for the week ahead, Donald Trump’s White House sent out a press release announcing that he was abandoning one of our most important allies in the fight against ISIS, the Kurds, by pulling U.S. troops out of Syria and ending our support for their efforts.

Donald Trump once falsely claimed that President Obama “founded ISIS” -- but Trump, through his reckless decision here, will be directly responsible for the resurgence of ISIS that is likely going to happen as a result.

To be very clear: Trump’s decision has also paved the way for the Kurds to be slaughtered because he gave the green light for Turkey, a long-time foe of the Kurds, to launch a military offensive against them.

This story is still developing, but we’re already learning that Turkey has launched that offensive in Syria against Kurdish forces, a key ally of the U.S. We already hear heart-breaking reports from the region that Kurdish families are fleeing their homes and abandoning their lives to escape this Turkish onslaught.

This whole situation underscores how erratic Trump is and how far America has fallen as a country in the eyes of the world.

Where is the leadership?

It calls me to think more about 2020 and how we can be most effective in getting Trump out of the White House and winning key elections across the country so we can get America back on track. So we can restore America to a time we held the mantle of leadership and were respected on the global stage. Where we had the trust of our allies and fear of our enemies -- the most basic lesson I learned in the Marines.

That’s what I’m working towards every day between now and November 2020. Every time Trump tweets something stupid. Every time he lies, embarrasses us or betrays us, let’s recommit ourselves to that fight.

Let’s make sure we’re all doing everything we can to win across the country. Indeed the stakes are too high to do anything less than that.

Thank you...
Seth
