ADVERTORIAL- An Advertisement, for a particular product or service, designed to give the consumer the impression that it is a NEWS STORY, RELAYING FACTUAL AND VERIFIABLE INFORMATION IN A MANNER THAT IMITATES ITEMS FOUND IN THE VISUAL, AUDIO, OR PRINT MEDIA. IN ACTUALITY, IT IS A DECEPTIVE PRACTICE THAT HAS LITTLE IN COMMON WITH PROFESSIONAL JOURNALISM.
THE MAIN GOAL: CONVINCING THE GENERAL PUBLIC THAT IT IS A FAIR AND UNBIASED EVALUATION, AND SHOULD BE ACCEPTED AS TRUTHFUL. ALSO, THAT THE CONTENTS WERE GATHERED AND EDITED BY COMPETENT PROFESSIONALS WHOSE KNOWLEDGE OF THE SUBJECT MATTER IS EXTENSIVE, OR WHO HAD ACCESS, THROUGH INTERVIEWS, TO THE OPINIONS OF LEADERS IN THE FIELD RELATED TO THE SUBJECT OF THE ADVERTORIAL.
Sometimes the ADVERTORIAL will appear on a Fictitious News Channel, Site, or Page, created to
add legitimacy about the accuracy of the information being provided.

the consumer might encounter:

These exist solely as SALES TOOLS,
and are nothing more than a creation of
the Advertiser or Marketer. They exist only
to deceive the Consumer into believing that
they are PROFESSIONAL MEDIA OUTLETS.
Unfortunately, there is an even more insidious Tactic that
you might encounter: NEWS OUTLETS THAT ARE CONSIDERED
PART OF THE "REGULAR" MEDIA, (THAT SUPPOSEDLY
OPERATE WITH EDITORIAL STANDARDS THAT INDICATE A
DEGREE OF PROFESSIONALISM), WHO TOSS ASIDE OBJECTIVITY
AND ANY STANDARDS THAT WOULD INDICATE FAIR AND
IMPARTIAL INQUIRY, AND PUT THEIR NAME TO A PURELY
COMMERCIAL SALES PITCH.
For our purposes, here are SECTIONS OF TWO ADVERTORIALS THAT I
CAME ACROSS THAT RAN SHORTLY BEFORE, AND IMMEDIATELY
AFTER THE 2016 ELECTION. THIS IS PART OF THE ARTICLE I
PUBLISHED AT THE TIME.
