We can't risk a constitutional crisis. U.S. SENATOR CORY BOOKER.

David,

It has been several weeks since the Special Counsel Independence and Integrity Act passed out of committee. The Senate Judiciary Committee and Senate Republican leadership have indicated that they do not intend to bring the legislation to the floor for a vote.

With Robert Mueller’s appointment coming up to the one-year mark this week, we must act now to stop President Trump from derailing the investigation.

Over the past few months, Trump has escalated his attacks on the special counsel’s investigation—from threatening to fire Robert Mueller to repeatedly referring to the investigation as a “witch hunt” to recently backing down on promises to take part in an interview with Mueller.

...call on Congress to pass legislation to protect Robert Mueller’s job and safeguard our electoral process from further Russian interference.

The legislation I introduced in the Senate to prevent President Trump from firing Mueller has bipartisan support and the support of the American people—but Senate Republican leadership refuses to act.

With Trump continually threatening to undermine or terminate the investigation, it is up to Congress to take action. The checks and balances in the legislation are crucial to protect our democracy.

The American people deserve to know the extent of President Trump’s ties to Russia—and if Robert Mueller is fired, we may never get the answers we deserve.

Join me in calling on Congress to protect our electoral process from further foreign attacks by passing legislation to maintain the integrity of the special counsel’s investigation.

Thank you,

Cory
