David,
Today is the last day of school for my kids.
Like most parents this time of year, Annmarie and I are grateful for a little break from the 6AM wake-ups, the nightly homework meltdowns, and the frazzled packing of lunches. Summer brings with it the promise of roasting marshmallows and catching fireflies and camping in the backyard.
But before we settle into all that, we want to say a big THANK YOU to the thousands of teachers, administrators, and staff all across our state who educate, nurture, and champion our children all year long.
At the end of the day, that’s what this campaign is all about: our kids. And building a future they can believe in.
All around Ohio, we have met people who get that.
From the bus driver who always waited an extra couple of seconds for our 8-year-old to sprint out the door with untied shoelaces, to the custodian at the middle school who let our 13-year-old dash back to her locker to retrieve the Science notebook she’d forgotten.
From the high school down in Canton teaching social justice to the preschool in Medina teaching kids how to share the swings, we are honored to call you all partners on this journey.
Thank you for supporting our public schools. Thank you for investing in the future.
And have a great summer.
Ken and Annmarie
