| "I'm running a race to help people, fundamentally
to serve people." David, It’s time for those of us that fought in Iraq and Afghanistan to take over for the generation who sent us there. It’s time for those of us who have lived to see school shootings become normal take over for the leaders who let that happen. And it’s time for those of us who will bear the brunt of our changing climate and economy to take over for the leaders who got us here. But we can’t just talk about a new generation of leadership--we need to fight for it. Over these past couple years, we’ve seen great leaders stepping up and doing that across the country--from the incredible freshmen who took back the House in 2018, to the Parkland students pushing for common sense gun reform to the teachers striking and women marching for a fair wage and basic human rights. But on gun reform, women’s rights, climate change--and more--Washington is lagging behind. The point is simple, David. It’s time for our generation to step up and lead on solving the problems of today. Because we’ve lived them. That’s why I challenged an 18-year incumbent from my own party when I first ran for Congress. That’s why I fought for term limits in party leadership last year.
