This morning the Missouri Senate passed a bill to ban abortions at 8 weeks. Last week Georgia’s Republican governor signed a bill that would effectively ban abortion across the state, severely restricting a woman’s right to make her own decisions about her reproductive health care. Yesterday, Alabama’s governor signed a similarly restrictive bill that would make an abortion a felony without exceptions for rape or incest.
These are just the most recent assaults in a string of attacks on reproductive rights. State legislatures across the country have passed similar bills. President Trump has expanded the global gag rule. And Republicans worked to cut funding for Planned Parenthood -- even though one in five women will use their services during their lifetime, including for things like contraception and cancer screenings.
