I'm thrilled to welcome you to the first installment of the Advocacy Fund's election newsletter:
We Decide 2020.
You are the backbone of our work, so we want to keep you updated about the candidates we're supporting and the ways that you can help send these champions to Beacon Hill. Every other week, the Advocacy Fund will send out
We Decide 2020 to spotlight a candidate we've endorsed, share volunteer opportunities, and give you a chance to hear from a member of our team about their important work this election season. I hope you’ll read each installment of
We Decide 2020 and take action with the Advocacy Fund and our champions.
You’ve heard it before, but it’s worth repeating: This is the most important election of our lives. Everything is on the line, and we can’t be left wishing in November that we had done more. We must fight to protect our rights and health, and that includes electing candidates up and down the ballot who will fight alongside us.
In solidarity,

Candidate Spotlight: Rep. Tram Nguyen
Meet Representative Tram Nguyen, the first Vietnamese American woman to serve in the Massachusetts State Legislature! Rep. Nguyen represents the 18th Essex District, which includes parts of Andover, Boxford, North Andover, and Tewksbury.
We proudly endorsed Rep. Nguyen when she first ran in 2018, defeating a dangerous, anti-abortion incumbent after running a campaign that championed the need for equitable abortion access. The Advocacy Fund threw our grassroots support behind her because we knew she was the representative the 18th Essex District deserves. Before running, she worked as a legal aid attorney representing domestic violence survivors, workers, seniors, veterans, people with disabilities, and children. During her first term, Rep. Nguyen has championed equitable abortion access by co-sponsoring and fighting for the ROE Act, helped the Advocacy Fund fight against abortion stigma, and championed the voices of young people.
She’s seen the shortcomings of the public health system and understands the serious need for access to equitable health care, including abortion care. And this year, she’s facing a challenger who shares the same values as the far right opponent she defeated two years ago. It’s crucial that we keep ROE Act Champions like Rep. Nguyen fighting for our rights and health on Beacon Hill.
Take Action
We're going virtual this election season!
All of our events are hosted online to keep volunteers safe. All of our phone banks are led by a member of PPAF's organizing team and begin with a training to make sure you're comfortable before hitting the dialer! Volunteers of all levels are welcome.

Over-policing of Black bodies keeps reproductive freedom unattainable for Black people in this country. If Black people do not have the right to bodily autonomy to live their lives without fear of violence & murder, we will never achieve justice or reproductive freedom. That's why the Advocacy Fund is supporting our parnters at the ACLU of Massachusetts during their week of action against police violence next week.
