Each year, UNESCO designates the third Thursday in November as World Philosophy Day. To mark World Philosophy Day this year, the APA has organized a webinar for APA members: World Philosophy Day: Doing World Philosophy.

The webinar will include brief presentations from philosophers about the webinar theme, followed by Q&A with attendees. The panelists for the webinar are the following:

  • Lori Gallegos, Assistant Professor of Philosophy, Texas State University — presenter
  • Kris Sealey, Associate Professor of Philosophy, Fairfield University — presenter
  • Bryan Van Norden, James Monroe Taylor Chair in Philosophy, Vassar College — presenter
  • Rebecca Bamford, Professor of Philosophy, Quinnipiac University — facilitator

The webinar will be held on Thursday, November 19 at 5 p.m. Eastern time / 2 p.m. Pacific time. To participate, register on the APA website. Registration will be available until 11 a.m. Eastern time / 8 a.m. Pacific time on the day of the webinar, and access information will be provided to registrants at least one hour prior to the start of the webinar. Registration is limited to current APA members.

 

In addition, faculty who are APA members who wish to make attendance at this webinar part of their courses may request webinar access for their students. There are a limited number or seats in the webinar reserved for students in such courses, and they will be made available on a first-come, first-served basis. To request webinar access for students in a philosophy course you are teaching, contact APA Executive Director Amy Ferrer at amyferrer@apaonline.org.
