If you keep thinking that Intellect and Morality are a measure of electability to the GOP you are dooming the U.S.
Narcissists and Sociopaths have no off button when it comes to achieving their desires. The only difference between todays GOP, and NAZI GERMANY OR STALINIST RUSSIA is what they believe would be going too far. That belief is not based on Moral Considerations, but how much control they think they have over the populace, and how strong their perceived support is in the general population.
Once you stop thinking of Trump, Greene, McCarthy, DeSantis, Cruz, Boebert., etc. as decent caring public servants, and see them as they really are: FASCISTS WHO WOULD SELL OUT COUNTRY FOR POWER, PRESTIGE AND WEALTH, you become part of the solution and realize not just the U.S., but Humanity is in a fight for its continued existence.
