January 6 committee holds last hearing ahead of midterms.
On Thursday, the House select committee investigating January 6, 2021, is holding its last hearing before the midterm elections. The committee plans to vote to subpoena former President Donald Trump during the hearing, NBC News reports. The committee is also expected to feature evidence that Trump’s allies were pushing him to declare victory on Election Day 2020 even before the votes were counted and that Trump was warned of violence at the Capitol before he posted an inflammatory attack on former vice president Mike Pence on his social media, according to Politico. Since the last hearing, the FBI searched Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate as part of its investigation into the alleged mishandling and retention of sensitive government documents.
