WHAT A SHAME- A look at the low points in the modern media. PSEUDOSCIENCE ON TELEVISION- LOGIC AND THE SCIENTIFIC METHOD NEED NOT APPLY. PT 2.

Psychic, Psychics, Psychic Reading
It seems strange to criticize the popular media for advancing and promoting certain T.V. programs that promote false and misleading views of proper Scientific Methodology, when the Highest Court in the U.S. hands down a ruling that does not differentiate between the Terms Prevention, Contraception or Termination. ( I am referring to the latest ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court that allows For-Profit Corporations to deny Health Coverage, to certain employees, on the basis of Religious Faith. This is a Topic I will go into detail in a future post.)

However, we'll let that go for now.  If you have read any of my posts on the U.S. Legal System, you know I consider it far from perfect. So lets return to the Topic at Hand.

IN SEARCH OF... - Was a T.V. Show from the 1970's, that attempted to give credibility to any Theory or Explanation that offered a solution to any so-called mystery that was part of popular culture at the time. Narrated by Leonard Nimoy, it aired episodes on UFOs, The Oak Island Money Pit, Bigfoot, The Loch Ness Monster and many other Topics.

Yes, productions on these subjects are still being made, and they PROUDLY!? carry on the tradition of using Faulty Analysis, Rumor, Preconceived Conclusions, Subjective Testimony, Religious Faith, Improperly Controlled Studies and Experiments etc., to draw conclusions that no reasonable person with an understanding of Science and Logic would ever support.

Watching any of the Cable Channels that offer programming that claims to investigate the Natural World and its Wonders and Mysteries, can be broken down into two simple categories;

1) Those who seek answers based on the Rules of Logic, Critical Analysis and a Methodology that is Accurate, Identifiable and Reproducible.

2) Programs that have guests who offer opinions that are based upon pure individual
speculation, THAT HAVE NO MORE SCIENTIFIC VALIDITY FROM ONE TO ANOTHER.

Guess which category gathers more air time?

To make this clear, an example.

ALIEN VISITATION. UFOs ARE PILOTED BY BEINGS FROM OTHER WORLDS.

How would we answer such a question?
LOOK FOR PT 3.
