TWO YEARS LATER. HILLARY CLINTON, ONWARD TOGETHER.

David --

Congratulations to all the voters, volunteers, organizers, and candidates who voted on Tuesday to put a powerful check on this administration and start building a better future for everyone in our country.

It was a historic night in so many ways: For the first time ever, over 100 women were elected to Congress—including a record number of women of color. Sharice Davids and Deb Haaland will be the first Native American women to ever serve in Congress. Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar will be the first Muslim women to serve. Ayanna Pressley and Jahana Hayes will be the first black women to represent Massachusetts and Connecticut in Congress, respectively. Tish James will be the first black woman to be New York's attorney general. Janet Mills will be the first woman governor of Maine. Cindy Axne and Abby Finkenauer will be the first women to represent Iowa in the House. Finkenauer and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez are the youngest women to be elected to Congress ever. The inspiring Lucy McBath became an activist for common-sense gun reform after her son, Jordan, was shot and killed. This cycle, she ran for Congress in a heavily Republican district in Georgia—and yesterday, she declared victory.

These historic firsts are important not just because representation matters (and it does), but because these extraordinary women will bring perspectives that have been absent from our policy debates for far too long.

There were important wins for rights, too, including Floridians voting to restore the voting rights of 1 million of their fellow citizens and Nevada approving automatic voter registration. None of these victories would have been possible if people had simply given up after the heartbreak of 2016. They belong to all the volunteers and candidates who worked impossible hours, logged hundreds of miles, and knocked on countless doors.

Two years ago, it wasn’t clear where this team would go next. But over the last two years, you've built something incredible, and I couldn’t be more proud to be in this fight alongside you.

Our work is far from over. As we celebrate our wins, let's be clear about what's ahead.

Onward!

Hillary

What we accomplished together in Mass. Jennifer Childs-Roshak, Planned Parenthood.

Planned Parenthood Advocacy Fund of Massachusetts

Dear Searchingforreason.N,
I’m so proud of what we accomplished last night in the 2018 midterm elections here in Massachusetts. The Planned Parenthood Advocacy Fund launched our largest midterm electoral program to date, fighting back against discrimination and electing and reelecting bold leaders who will champion reproductive rights at the State House.
Here’s a recap of what we accomplished together:
Yes on 3, the state ballot measure to uphold transgender nondiscrimination protections, won in an overwhelming landslide. For months now, our organizers and volunteers have been hard at work supporting Yes on 3 by knocking on doors, making phone calls, and standing in solidarity with our transgender neighbors at every opportunity.
We reject the Trump administration’s efforts to erase civil rights protections for transgender people. With last night’s election results, we affirm the dignity and humanity of our transgender neighbors.
2.) We elected and reelected strong local leaders to the Massachusetts State House.
Thanks to the hard work of each and every one of you, we will continue to have a pro-reproductive health majority in the Massachusetts House AND Senate. Some of our most exciting wins include:
The 18th Essex District: PPAF-endorsed candidate Tram Nguyen, a young woman of color running on a bold pro-reproductive health agenda, defeated Rep. Jim Lyons, one of the biggest anti-reproductive rights, anti-LGBTQ opponents in the State House.
The 17th Worcester District: PPAF-endorsed candidate David LeBoeuf, defeated Paul Fullen, a vocal opponent of Planned Parenthood and a frequent protester outside Planned Parenthood’s Worcester health center.
We helped reelect incumbents like Rep. Natalie HigginsRep. Jim Hawkins,Senator Jamie Eldridge, and Senator Paul Feeney, all whom were instrumental in helping us protect birth control access and repeal Massachusetts’ archaic abortion laws.
3.) Voters flipped the U.S. House to a pro-reproductive health majority.
The U.S. House is now charged with and empowered to defend our country against the Trump-Pence agenda. A record number of women ran for office this year, winning decisive victories across the country. Here in Massachusetts, Congresswomen-elect Ayanna Pressley (MA-7) and Lori Trahan (MA-3) will head to D.C. and join the rest of the pro-reproductive health Massachusetts Congressional Delegation.
The 2018 midterm elections may be over – but here at the Advocacy Fund, we’re just getting started. Next legislative session, with our strongest majority in the State House, we’re going to fight like hell to ensure every person in the Commonwealth has access to the sexual and reproductive health care and information they need and deserve – no matter what.
Thank you, Searchingforreason.N, for canvassing, phone banking, and voting with the Advocacy Fund these midterm elections – and thank you for standing with us in the fights ahead.

WE DID IT! U.S. REPRESENTATIVE JENNIFER WEXTON.

We did it, David!

Last night we won this election and are finally sending our values to Congress. I am beyond grateful to everyone who gave their time, money and passion to help us win this race. This campaign was never about me, it was about the thousands of VA-10 residents who didn’t feel like they had a voice in our government. Thanks to you, we changed that.

Barbara Comstock called me last night to congratulate me on our victory and wish me luck in the new Congress. I thanked her for her years of service to our district and wished her well.
The blue wave swept throughout the country last night and it started right here in VA-10. We were the first seat of many to turn blue last night and it wouldn’t have happened without your support. Now that we’ve won, the real work begins.

The next couple of years are not going to be easy. I’m headed to Congress to fight for better health care and common sense gun legislation. But this administration will not go along with our agenda just because we control the house. Advancing our work will be difficult, but I’m up for the task.

Thank you again for your support throughout this campaign. Let’s take today to celebrate and tomorrow we'll get back to work.

Be in touch,
Jennifer

My record speaks for itself. STATE SENATE CANDIDATE JENNIFER BOYSKO.

Dear David,

After Congresswoman-Elect Jennifer Wexton's amazing victory yesterday, I announced that I am running to become your Democratic candidate for Virginia's 33rd State Senate District. Jennifer will be vacating the seat when she goes to Washington to serve us. I've focused all year to help her win her seat. In fact, I've been working to flip this seat for the better part of 2 decades with many of you! Now that her race is complete, today I would like to tell you more about myself and my record, so that you know you can count on me to stand up for you and your rights in Richmond.

For 22 years, I have worked tirelessly to build an inclusive and vibrant environment here in Northern Virginia. I first got involved in Virginia politics working on Howard Dean’s Presidential campaign in 2003, eventually becoming the campaign’s Statewide Director. I have been a longtime grassroots organizer, helping Democrats up and down the ticket in the Dulles area over the past 15 years. I flipped the 86th District from Red to Blue when I was elected to Virginia’s House of Delegates in 2015. In that race, the Republicans threw everything they had at me, spending over $1.2 million. During the 2017 cycle, I also served as the Finance Chair for the House Democratic Caucus and played a large role in raising money to help our 15 new members win their seats (all while facing my own race which I won with 68% of the vote).

The 86th District is now solidly Blue. I am being called now to help in the Senate. To tell you about my earlier work, I have served my community in many leadership roles over the past 22 years. As a board member for NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia, as a Stephens Minister and a member of the Diocean Council at my church, a member of the Democratic State Central Committee and in the PTSA in my daughters' school. As a leader in Northern Virginia politics, I helped found the Dulles Area Democrats, bringing Loudoun County and Fairfax County Democrats together across jurisdictional boundaries. At the local level, I worked for Dranesville County Supervisor John Foust covering education, human services, housing and land use and transportation planning for nearly 6 years. In that capacity I made sure that we worked across jurisdictions to have a regional focus because traffic and roads don't stop at the county border at the staff level. I understand local and regional issues we face in the Dulles Corridor.

We have to keep the 33rd Senate seat and I am ready for the fight, no matter who the Republicans put up against me. A special primary on Saturday, Nov. 17th will determine who takes over Wexton’s seat for the remainder of her term. We only have 10 days to raise funds for our campaign and could really use your help.
I am a battle-tested, dedicated progressive who wants to serve you.
