DONALD TRUMPS SOTUS- COMMENTS BEFORE AND AFTER. #6.

MEMBER OF CONGRESS DAVID CICILLINE.

Dear David,

Tonight, President Trump had the opportunity to bring our country together, but instead he chose to double down on his divisive and destructive agenda – comprised of little substance or facts – that has come to define his failing Administration.

Over the last year, President Trump’s policies have come at grave costs to the very people he pledged to protect. He said he would bring American jobs back, but has overseen jobs being shipped overseas at an alarming rate. He has led Republicans’ ideological crusade to repeal the Affordable Care Act, driving up health care costs and taking away health coverage from millions of Americans. He has torn families apart and threatened to deport young people who are Americans in every sense of the word except for a sheet of paper. His only ‘legislative accomplishment’ is a tax scam that has sold the future of our workers, seniors, and the middle class to pad the pockets of big corporations, the wealthy, and the well-off. This is not what the American people signed up for.

While President Trump and Washington Republicans have caused confusion, crisis, and chaos, Democrats are focused on investing in hardworking families. We’re working to build an economy that puts Americans first. We’re fighting to create good-paying jobs, to ensure hard work is rewarded with good wages and to deliver workers the tools they need to be successful in the 21st century. A Better Deal – better jobs, better wages, and a better future – that is our collective vision for a stronger, more prosperous America, and we stand ready to work with any Republican willing to work in a bipartisan fashion to solve some of America’s biggest challenges.

Warm regards,

David N. Cicilline
Member of Congress

DONALD TRUMPS SOTUS- COMMENTS BEFORE AND AFTER. #5.

.ATTORNEY GENERAL FOR THE STATE OF VIRGINIA, MARK HERRING.
A year ago today.
David: One year ago today, I decided to take a stand against intolerance and discrimination, officially challenging the Trump administration's bigoted travel ban.
To me, the choice was clear: The ban was – and remains – unjust, unconstitutional and un-American. It was intended to stoke fear, division and distrust in our communities, trying to mask the worst kind of discrimination with mounds of legal jargon. But I saw the ban for exactly what it was, and so did the federal judge who heard our case and blocked the ban.
Looking back, I couldn’t be prouder of how Virginians acted that week. When I rushed to Dulles International Airport, I was met by dozens of Virginians who were protesting the ban and welcoming to our country the very people the Trump administration had tried to keep out.
All these months later, I want you to know that I’m going to keep fighting for these principles every day of this new term – and that I’ll never, ever shy away from speaking out for every person who calls our Commonwealth home, no matter where they’re from, how they pray or who they love.
Of course, the work isn’t over. There’ll be more challenges to come, but with you by my side, ready to fight for what’s right and what’s decent, I know that we’ll be more than ready to take on any of the challenges that this new year brings.
Thank you for all you’ve done this past year, David – now let’s get back to work!
Mark.

UNITED States of America.
CONGRESSIONAL CANDIDATE JOSH WELLE.

David,
Did you catch yesterday's State of the Union address?
President Trump opened his speech with an appeal for unity, but it devolved into pugnacious nationalism. For many of us, last night served as a reminder of how President Trump was elected -- and why I, and so many others like me, answered a call to run for office. I hope to UNITE our community and move us forward.
The Trump administration and some GOP leaders take us backward. Most of his speech pits one part of our society against another. He has no ability to transform our country towards a better future because he only sees things as win or lose, us versus them.
On domestic policy, he is nearsighted. He lauds tax cuts for the 1% and big business CEOs over working families. He repeals the health care individual mandate that keeps people healthy and saves the government money. He alienates Dreamers who are integral to our thriving society. He turns a blind eye towards climate change and looks for quick wins in lieu of visionary solutions.
On foreign policy, he is bombastic. He envisions a world where we can win only if others lose. He thinks that “America First” is “Everyone Else Last.” Building walls, abandoning NAFTA, and breaking alliances makes us less safe against terrorism. More weapons won’t keep us safe, but good leadership will.
The fundamental challenge our country faces is the vast inequalities in access to building blocks for a high standard of living -- quality education, affordable healthcare, and stable employment opportunities. Tackling this challenge requires equal parts creativity and commitment -- and our president has shown little capacity for either. Trump continues to choose short-term fixes now at the expense long-term rewards.
We, you, and I must reaffirm one fundamental truth about this great American story: We are a UNITED people and have a shared future. November 6th will be our first opportunity to reassert our shared values at the ballot box -
