AMERICAN PHILOSOPHICAL ASSOCIATION. NOMINATIONS FOR LEADERSHIP POSITIONS.

Dear DAVID,

There are just two weeks left to nominate qualified candidates for APA leadership positions. The deadline for nominations is October 31. The terms for these positions will begin on July 1, 2020, and most are three years in length.

All nominations must be made through the online nominations system. Nominations submitted by email, phone, or postal mail will not be accepted.

There are member vacancies on seventeen APA committees, including a vacancy for the disability representative on the inclusiveness committee, as well as vacancies for associate chair positions on five committees. There will be one vacancy for member-at-large of the board of officers, and four member vacancies on the graduate student council (GSC). Most committee terms are three years in length; GSC terms are two years. Sign in to the nominations system for more information and a complete list of vacancies.

Both nominators and nominees must be current APA members. If you haven’t done so already, please be sure to renew your APA membership.

Service on the board of officers, an APA committee, or the graduate student council is a significant opportunity for leadership in the profession and the association. I encourage you to take the time to nominate qualified candidates—perhaps yourself!—for these important positions.

All the best,

Amy E. Ferrer
Executive Director

NPR NEWS: Maryland Democratic Rep. Elijah Cummings Dies At 68

The Baltimore congressman, who was chairman of the House Oversight and Reform Committee, had taken a lead role in the impeachment inquiry of President Trump.

On the trail for our incredible candidates! JENNIFER WEXTON.

DAVID,

As Election Day nears, I'm not wasting a minute of time. I've had an incredible experience traveling throughout Northern Virginia to support the Democratic candidates who we need to win on November 5.

I spent last Sunday afternoon at an event for my friend, Supervisor John Foust. He's represented Dranesville for the last 12 years and has worked hard for our economy, our schools, our seniors, and our environment.

I also recently campaigned for Delegate John Bell. I’ve known John for years, and he’s the leader Loudoun and Prince William needs -- for our children’s safety, our transportation challenges, and our future.

And I've worked on behalf of Delegate Hala Ayala, who's an amazing champion for our families in Richmond -- helping expand Medicaid, getting teachers a much-needed pay raise, and fighting tirelessly for women and children.

We're not slowing in this final stretch! I've got many more events planned to help ensure that Election Day is a huge victory for Virginia Democrats...

Thank you,

Jennifer
