PREVENTING ANOTHER BOGUS ELECTION.

ARTICLE TAKEN FROM

THE FOLLOWING: https://techcrunch.com

The new bill, known as the Protecting American Votes and Elections Act, proposes two significant measures. First, because not all digital voting systems produce a paper trail, it would require all state and local elections to ensure that their equipment produces voter-verified paper ballots that can be cross-referenced. Second, for all federal elections regardless of outcome, state and local governments would be required to conduct audits comparing digital ballots to a random selection of paper ballots. The latter policy would cover the 22 states that currently don’t require audits following elections.

“Leaving the fate of America’s democracy up to hackable election machines is like leaving your front door open, unlocked and putting up a sign that says ‘out of town.’ It’s not a question of if bad guys get in, it’s just a question of when,” Oregon Senator Ron Wyden said in a statement accompanying the bill.
Voting integrity is one of Wyden’s pet issues and the senator has pressed for his home state of Oregon’s vote-by-mail system to be adopted nationally.
Wyden is joined by Democratic Senators Kirsten Gillibrand, Ed Markey, Jeff Merkley, Patty Murray and Elizabeth Warren on the legislation. Congressman Earl Blumenauer plans to introduce a corresponding bill in the house.
“We know that Russia hacked into American voter systems to influence our election – and we know they’ll try to do it again,” Sen. Warren said. “Our national security experts have warned us that the country’s election infrastructure is vulnerable – this bill will take important steps to help secure it.”
While the bill isn’t a bipartisan proposal — yet, anyway — these same measures are widely supported by election security experts as well as the Department of Homeland Security and a Senate Intelligence Committee report offering recommendations for securing the vote from earlier this year.

A big one. CONGRESSIONAL CANDIDATE PAT RYAN.

Hi David -- This weekend, I'm marching 30 miles with students, teachers, and activists to John Faso's office to deliver him a letter demanding he advocates for common sense gun safety legislation now.  Faso’s taken $45k from the NRA and voted against the safety of his constituents on every gun violence prevention bill that’s come across his desk. Meanwhile, more students have been killed this year from gun violence than soldiers in combat zones. Enough is enough.

Clearly, this is an important issue. Since we released my first TV ad, it’s been viewed nearly 1 million times. CNN had me on New Day with Alisyn Camerota because the issue of gun violence in our county resonates with folks everywhere.

My team has knocked thousands of doors and we've made tens of thousands of phone calls. They put in 12+ hour a day and still come into the campaign office every day hitting the ground running to make sure I win this primary.

2 weeks. That’s what we’ve got between now and the primary. I’m incredibly proud of the work we’ve done so far, and I’m ready to hit each day running at full sprint pace.

Thank you and talk soon,
Pat

LOGIC. IT'S NOT JUST FOR VULCANS, AND VIEWERS OF "THE BIG BANG THEORY." #7. THE FALLACY OF INTOLERANCE. PT 2.

Soulless, Soulless Eyes

The Basis for much of this Type of Fallacy, is often ZEALOTRY being masked behind Specific Beliefs and Attitudes found in Religion and Nationalism.  These are used as Reasons to claim that Certain;

-  EXPRESSIONS OF FAITH.

-  POLITICAL IDEOLOGIES.

-  CULTURAL AND SOCIAL ATTITUDES, BASED ON CLASS DISTINCTION.

Are Supported by Individuals who claim They want what is Best for Every Individual, which Includes Families and Friends, and the Country as a whole.  However, Upon Closer Analysis, we find that such Conclusions are not Based in Reality, and Often hide a SELF- SERVING AGENDA.

Unlike the SOCIOPATH, (See FEATURE ARTICLES), most People don't want to Think that others are Being Cheated, Harmed or Treated Unfairly.  This is Especially True if They are Getting Benefits or Advantages Denied to Others.  This can become a Crisis of Conscience, unless they can RATIONALIZE THE INEQUALITY IN A WAY THAT LETS THEM OFF THE HOOK.  It may not take much to Alleviate any Feelings of Guilt, and POLITICS OFTEN OFFERS A CONVENIENT WAY OUT OF THIS EMOTIONAL DILEMMA.

This is the FOUNDATION OF ZEALOTRY THAT IS FOUND IN MANY PARTS OF THE POLITICAL SYSTEM.  It Allows SUPPORTERS;

-  To Draw Conclusions about Entire Segments of Society, without providing any Real Evidence that All Members of such Groups Deserves to be Judged in the Same Light.

-  To Justify abolishing certain Government Programs Designed to Address Economic and Social Hardships, if there are any Problems in how they are Administered, while at the same time ignoring the Positive Affects on those who were meant to be Helped. Further, these Same Types of Problems are Given a Free Pass, and are not Addressed, if They Occur in Programs that the Zealots Benefit From.

-  To Claim Discrimination or Unfairness if New Laws or Judicial Decisions take away Their Privileged Status, and Offer Equality Under the Law by Legalizing Social Behaviors and Civil Contracts that will give all the same Status.

ZEALOTRY IS OFTEN THE FACE OF INTOLERANCE, JUST ANOTHER EXCUSE FOR IRRATIONAL THINKING.

We did it! CONGRESSIONAL CANDIDATE JENNIFER WEXTON.

Thank you, David! We won big in our primary election tonight and folks like you made it happen.

I am so grateful for your support thus far, and I’m going to need it as we head into the general election. This was a hard-fought primary, but it pushed me to be an even better public servant and candidate to take on Barbara Comstock in November.

Tonight’s victory is just the first step. We have a lot of work to do! Between now and November 6th, Barbara Comstock is sure to have millions of dollars backing her campaign from her allies on the Hill. We can’t afford to let up as we set our sights on the general election. The stakes in this race are too high. I need your help to flip this seat.

Thank you so much. Now let’s go win this thing,
Jennifer
