The heavily blacked out affidavit's Friday release shines light on the FBI's justification of its recent search of former President Donald Trump’s Florida estate earlier this month. This move comes after US Magistrate Judge Bruce Reinhart set a deadline of noon Friday for the Justice Department to release the document to the public, The New York Times reports.
Despite heavy redactions, there were stunning new details in the affidavit, outlined in gravely serious terms, as the DOJ explained why it searched Trump’s Florida home. In total, investigators found 184 documents with classified markings.
