Recent claims of US Supreme Court ruling on 2020 presidential election results are false, according to fact-checkers

False claims related to US Supreme Court action on the 2020 presidential election results have circulated online, Reuters, The Associated Press and PolitiFact report. The Supreme Court has “no power to overturn the 2020 presidential election results” and “the only way to remove a president from office is through impeachment,” Richard Pildes, Sudler Family Professor of Constitutional Law at New York University School of Law told Reuters.

Social media users are spreading false claims that the U.S. Supreme Court voted to overturn the results of the 2020 election results. The court has made no such decision and is on its summer recess.
