The Ottawa Police said they have largely cleared downtown Ottawa of anti-vaccine protesters and trucks and vehicles they used to block the city center since January 28. However residents can expect to see a strong police presence in the city in the coming days, officials said. The protesters initially were protesting against cross-border COVID-19 vaccine mandates for truck drivers but the blockade turned into a demonstration against Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. The protest prompted Trudeau to invoke emergency powers on February 14.
A truck is not a speech. A horn is not a voice. An occupation is not a protest. A blockade is not freedom, it blocks the liberty of all. A demand to overthrow a government is not a dialogue. The expression of hatred is not a difference of opinion. A lie is not the truth.
