AMERICAN PHILOSOPHICAL ASSOCIATION- Pacific Division Meeting: The Teaching Hub.

Dear DAVID,

Have you registered for the 2020 Pacific Division meeting, April 8–11 in San Francisco, California? If not, take a moment and register online now!

We presently expect the 2020 APA Pacific Division meeting to take place as planned. The APA is monitoring the situation related to the coronavirus (COVID-19) and will notify meeting participants of any further developments and decisions related to the meeting.

This year’s meeting will feature the popular Teaching Hub, a two-day series of workshops and sessions that address the teaching of philosophy at all levels. The Teaching Hub, sponsored by the APA and the American Association of Philosophy Teachers, will run from Thursday, April 9, through Friday, April 10, 2020. Pacific Division meeting registrants are invited to attend any or all of the sessions.

The 2020 Pacific Meeting Teaching Hub will include the following sessions (visit the APA website for details):
  • How to Teach an Asian Philosophical Classic: A Roundtable Discussion
  • Applying for Teaching Positions at Two-Year Colleges and Making the Most of the Teaching Demonstration
  • Overcoming Challenges of Teaching Philosophy of Race, Gender, and/or Identity
  • Addressing Resistance and Alternative Facts: Classroom Activities and Assignments
  • Workshops on Teaching Philosophy
  • Metaphilosophy for Undergraduates and Top Five Thoughts on Teaching Philosophy
  • Closing Reception: Undergraduate Research and Faculty SoTL Poster Session

Early bird registration rates ($125 for APA members, $240 for non-members, and $40 for student members) are available until March 25. Online registration will be unavailable March 26 through April 7, but will reopen on April 8, the first day of the meeting.

You can also register at the registration desk on-site at the meeting. Please note: on-site registration rates will be $50 higher than early bird registration for all categories. If you haven’t already done so, renew your membership for 2019–2020 now to be eligible for the APA member registration rates.

You’ll save an additional $5 on meeting registration if you opt not to receive a paper copy of the program. The meeting program is available online, and our free meeting app for smartphones and tablets will also contain the full program.

We look forward to seeing you in San Francisco!

All the best,

Amy E. Ferrer
Executive Director

P.S. The APA Group Rate ($199/night plus applicable taxes and fees) for hotel reservations at the Westin St. Francis is valid through March 16, subject to availability. Reserve your room today.
