APA- Register now for the 2019 Eastern Division meeting!

American Philosophical Association

The 2019 Eastern Division meeting will be held January 7–10 at the Sheraton New York Times Square in New York, NY.

Meeting Registration

Online registration is now open! You will be able to register online at the early bird rates until December 20 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time. Please note that online registration will be available only until December 20. After that date, online registration will no longer be available, but you will still be able to register at the registration desk at the meeting.
The early bird registration rates are $50 less for all categories than for the on-site registration rates. To register at the member rates, you must be signed in.

Meeting Program

The meeting program is available on the APA website. Meeting registrants will also have access to the full program, including room locations, in our meeting app. Paper copies of the program will be available at the meeting.
Go green! You’ll save an additional $5 on meeting registration if you choose not to receive a paper copy of the program. Our free meeting app for smartphones and tablets contains the full program.
Those who go paperless will have the option to purchase a program for $5 at the registration desk.
Watch the APA Eastern Facebook and Twitter pages for periodic announcements about high-profile sessions.

Hotel Reservations

Hotel reservations at the conference rates can be made through links on the APA website. The per-night room rates are $179 (plus applicable taxes and fees) for regular members and non-members, and $169 (plus applicable taxes and fees) for student members.
Please note: It is important that those attending the meeting stay in the conference hotels, rather than at other hotels, and specifically in the block of rooms reserved for APA meeting attendees. The financial viability of the meeting depends on our meeting our contractual obligations, the most important of which (by far) is that we fill a minimum number of sleeping rooms. Failure to do so results in a significant penalty, which, as a non-profit organization, the APA is ill-equipped to pay, and which would take resources away from other important APA initiatives.
For more information about the 2019 Eastern Division meeting, visit the meeting page. All meeting-related inquiries should be submitted via the meeting contact forms.
The program and executive committees extend a cordial invitation to all APA members to come and take part in the 2019 Eastern Division meeting.
Sincerely,
Jeffrey Dunn
APA Eastern Division Secretary-Treasurer

Do you have a plan? CONGRESSIONAL CANDIDATE MAURA SULLIVAN.

Tomorrow is the day. Granite Staters will head to the polls, perform their civic duty of voting, and elect a new Democratic nominee. Do you have a plan? What time of day will you vote? How will you get to the polls? Do you know where to go?

Don’t leave the planning until tomorrow! Maura needs our voices to be heard so she can start looking towards November.

We’ll be working around the clock today and tomorrow to get out the vote. We still need last-minute supplies, like campaign literature, and we still look to our grassroots donors for their support.

So, please, make your plan to vote...

Thank you,
Team Maura

You’re invited – September 15th and 16th. CONGRESSIONAL CANDIDATE. KEN HARBAUGH.

David,
We’re excited to invite you to Ohio this upcoming weekend to help us make history in the OH-7!
On Saturday, Sept. 15th and Sunday, Sept. 16th, Team Harbaugh will be running the largest door-knocking event in the state of Ohio. And we are looking for even more fired-up volunteers to join us.
We’ll need drivers, door-knockers, and folks to keep track of lists and clipboards. We’ll need phone bankers and postcard writers and folks to sharpen pencils. If you are ready to send a new generation of leadership to Washington, it’s time to step up.
Come help us flip the Ohio 7th!
Saturday, September 15th and Sunday, September 16th
Let’s fight for the things that matter to all of us and help send this great leader and public servant to Washington.
Come knock on doors. We hope to see you there!
In service,
Tom Smith
For questions or to RSVP, please contact Tom at tom@kenharbaughforcongress.com.
PS -- If you need a place to crash, we can help you with supporter housing. If you have been meaning to stop by and see what all the fuss is about, now is your chance -- come on! And for the planners in the group, we will do this again in a couple of weeks -- Oct. 6th and 7th. Stay tuned.

Transgender rights are under attack in Ma. Jennifer Childs-Roshak, Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts

Dear Searchingforreason.N,
Our health, our rights, and our freedoms are on the ballot this year.
The same people who have sought to restrict access to reproductive health care and the right to control our own bodies have placed on the ballot this November Question 3, which would repeal the landmark law that protects transgender people from discrimination in public spaces. Massachusetts voters will be the first in the country to vote on transgender protections.
The scariest part? Polls show us neck-and-neck with our opponents.
That’s why I’m calling on you to not only pledge to vote YES on Question 3, but to join us at the rally to support the Freedom for All campaign to preserve these protections for the transgender community.
Sunday, September 16
10 AM
Copley Square, Boston
LGBTQ rights and reproductive rights are deeply connected to justice for all. Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts has long stood with lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people in the struggle for full equality — many of whom turn to our health centers and education programs for inclusive care and information. With the polls this close, we are calling on you, Searchingforreason.N, to join us in standing with the transgender community. We all must rise up to uphold these vital protections, stop discrimination, and vote YES on Question 3.
We’re seeing this unstoppable force mobilize right now. You can join the fight by rallying with us on September 16th in Boston.
Jen Childs-Roshak
