INDEPENDENCE. U.S. REPRESENTATIVE DAVID CICILLINE.

Dear David,

This week, we celebrate our country’s Independence Day. Since July 4, 1776, the United States has stood as a beacon of freedom and opportunity to all mankind. Our values of freedom, equality, and opportunity have built the strongest, most powerful country in the history of the world. Those same values have offered a goal for every country to strive towards. As President Abraham Lincoln put it in a message to Congress more than 150 years ago, the United States of America still stands as “the last best hope of earth.”

Today, many of us feel that our core values are under attack. In an era of constant political fighting, and a presidency that takes place largely on Twitter, it’s easy to feel like these values are slipping away. We can’t let that happen.

America is worth fighting for. As we celebrate our country today, I want you to know that I will never stop fighting to uphold our core values as Americans. Working together, we can preserve freedom, equality, and opportunity for the next generation. We can protect and preserve the ideals of our Founding Fathers, and continue to be an example of goodness to the world.

I wish you and your family a very Happy Independence Day,

David Cicilline
Member of Congress

Your electric bill is going up. GUBERNATORIAL CANDIDATE MOLLY KELLY.

Dear David:
Talk about putting special interests ahead of New Hampshire families.
Chris Sununu has received more than $50,000 in campaign contributions from our state's utility company, Eversource. And you know what just happened? Eversource announced it is raising our electric rates by almost 20%.
This will hurt Granite Staters who are already struggling to get by, especially seniors living on a fixed income.
Instead of doing the bidding of his major campaign contributor, Sununu should have been working for the people of New Hampshire.
As governor, the people of our state will come first, not the power company.
Eversource is getting its money's worth. Sununu killed important renewable energy legislation that would have encouraged small business growth and job creation and lowered utility bills for cities, towns and ratepayers. It also reduced competition for Eversource.
Sununu is filling his campaign coffers with big utility money, and consumers are getting higher rates. That's wrong.
Sununu can't be trusted to put New Hampshire's best interests ahead of special interests.
Thank you,
Molly

Watch now: What we've been up to at ONWARD TOGETHER. HILLARY CLINTON.

David --

When my friend Howard Dean and I first talked about forming a new organization, it was because we were blown away by the energy and commitment shown by activists -- new and old -- in the aftermath of the 2016 election. We asked ourselves: What can we do to help them?

Onward Together was formed as a way to support and connect the groups that are doing the work that absolutely needs to be done right now -- from mobilizing voters to encouraging and training new activists to recruiting people who are ready to run for office themselves. In 2017, we partnered with 11 organizations headed up by smart, passionate leaders. We offer funding and strategic advice,  and connect them with resources.

And this spring, we finally had a chance to bring those leaders together in one place, and it was really something special.

Take a moment to watch the video we've made celebrating our first Onward Together convening.

The leaders who joined us in New York come from every background. Some of them have been doing this work for years, while some were motivated by the 2016 election. They have different interests and approaches, but all share a belief that our country can be made better by the people who love it.

I really hope you'll take a moment to watch this video, because I think you'll find these activists as inspiring as I do -- and I hope you'll learn more about a group you'd like to support yourself.

Onward!

Hillary

We are down to the wire. Join us at the State House. Jennifer Childs-Roshak, Planned Parenthood Advocacy Fund

Dear Searchingforreason.N,
For nearly a decade, you have lobbied your state lawmakers and organized in your community for the Healthy Youth Act, which would protect young people from the threat of abstinence-only propaganda in our schools. Because of your efforts, the legislation passed the Massachusetts Senate a year ago, and a majority of the House of Representatives support the bill. We also know that 85 percent of likely voters in 2018 oppose abstinence-only programs.  Now, the House has less than one month left to pass the bill. On Tuesday, July 17, we’re charging at the State House to make one final push for sex education and to urge our state reps to bring the bill to the floor for a vote.

Now – more than ever – our federal government is intent upon rolling back the hard-won rights of women, LGBTQ people, and people of color. Young people, too, are vulnerable to the anti-science ideology of the Trump-Pence administration, which has used the Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program to push dangerous abstinence-only programs. This is exactly why we at the Planned Parenthood Advocacy Fund are so dedicated to fighting back and creating a safe, inclusive, and healthier world for our young people. They have a right to an education free from shame and stigma. More than that, they deserve to feel empowered and knowledgeable about their bodies, health, and relationships. Let’s make this happen once and for all!
See you at the State House.
