MSNBC: Kinzinger, like fellow Republican Liz Cheney, is taking a stand against election deniers.

TO BE FAIR, THERE ARE A FEW MEMBERS OF THE  GOP, (THOUGH NONE OF THE PARTY LEADERSHIP), WHO REALIZE THAT FASCIST HATE-MONGERS HAVE TAKEN CONTROL OF THE PARTY. THEY HAVE DECIDED ACTS OF TREASON, AND BEING A PUPPET FOR PUTIN, ARE NOT WHAT THEY WANT FOR THE U.S.  THEY SEE TRUMP FOR WHAT HE IS: A SOCIOPATHIC TRAITOR WHO WOULD SELL OUT ANYONE TO PROTECT HIS COWARDLY CARCASS FROM BEING PLACED IN A PRISON CELL WHERE IT BELONGS.

DOES THIS MEAN THAT CHENEY AND KINZINGER WOULD BE MY CHOICES FOR CONGRESS? OF COURSE NOT. HOWEVER, I'LL TAKE SOMEONE WILLING TO STAND BY OUR CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC COME WHAT MAY, THAN A MORE MODERATE CHOICE WHO STANDS UP FOR NOTHING, INVISIBLE UNTIL IT'S A SURE THING.- DAVID.

MSNBC: Kinzinger, like fellow Republican Liz Cheney, is taking a stand against election deniers.

Partisanship, Liz Cheney
recently said, “has to have
a limit.” Evidently, Adam
Kinzinger is thinking along
the same lines — and is
endorsing Democrats.

After Rep. Liz Cheney’s career as a conservative Republican congresswoman nears its end — she lost her Wyoming primary in August by more than 37 points — the former House Republican Conference chair has reassessed her partisan loyalties.

In fact, it was just a couple of weeks ago when the vice chair of the House’s Jan. 6 committee not only publicly criticized her own party’s election deniers, she also expressed a willingness to support Democrats in key races in order to defeat radical GOP conspiracy theorists.

Partisanship, Cheney said, “has to have a limit.”

As it turns out, her fellow Republican on the House select committee appears to be thinking along the same lines. The Washington Post noted this morning:

Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.), a fierce critic of former president Donald Trump, is out with a list of a dozen candidates endorsed by his leadership PAC, Country First. Half of them are Democrats.

In terms of top-of-the-ticket races, Kinzinger’s leadership PAC backed two Democratic gubernatorial candidates: Pennsylvania’s Josh Shapiro and Arizona’s Katie Hobbs. It’s no coincidence that both Democrats are running against right-wing election deniers in their statewide contests.

But just as notable is the fact that Kinzinger’s operation also threw its support behind four Democrats who are secretary of state candidates: Nevada’s Cisco Aguilar, Michigan’s Jocelyn Benson, Arizona’s Adrian Fontes and Minnesota’s Steve Simon.

Naturally, the Illinois Republican backed plenty of candidates from his own party, too, but some of these selections stand out for related reasons: Kinzinger’s leadership PAC is supporting Sen. Lisa Murkowski in Alaska, for example, as part of her race against a Trump-backed election denier. Also getting support is Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, whom the former president both pressured as part of an anti-election scheme and tried to defeat in a GOP primary.

What’s more, Kinzinger’s operation also endorsed one U.S. Senate candidate: Evan McMullin’s independent candidacy in Utah against incumbent Republican Sen. Mike Lee.

As regular readers might recall, CNN released text messages Lee sent to then-White House chief of staff Mark Meadows in the days and weeks after the 2020 presidential election, showing the Utahan allegedly partnering with Donald Trump’s team to explore ways to reject American voters’ verdict.

“Now more than ever, it’s critical we elect leaders up and down the ballot who are loyal to the Constitution and willing to be a bulwark for democracy — regardless of their political party affiliation,” Kinzinger said in a statement.

I don’t doubt this will lead to another round of partisan accusations about Kinzinger being a “RINO” (Republican In Name Only), but let’s not forget that the Illinois Republican voted with the Trump White House roughly 90% of the time.

He also apparently thinks voters should elect candidates who accept election results.

January 6 committee holds last hearing ahead of midterms.

On Thursday, the House select committee investigating January 6, 2021, is holding its last hearing before the midterm elections. The committee plans to vote to subpoena former President Donald Trump during the hearing, NBC News reports. The committee is also expected to feature evidence that Trump’s allies were pushing him to declare victory on Election Day 2020 even before the votes were counted and that Trump was warned of violence at the Capitol before he posted an inflammatory attack on former vice president Mike Pence on his social media, according to Politico. Since the last hearing, the FBI searched Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate as part of its investigation into the alleged mishandling and retention of sensitive government documents.

IN THE END, IT'S THE PRICE TO BE PAID TO GET RID OF THEM.
PART OF THAT PRICE IS REALIZING THAT THEIR SUPPORTERS DO NOT CARE IF THEY ARE BEING MISLEAD, OR DECEIVED. FACTS MEAN NOTHING TO THE FASCIST, XENOPHOBE, RACIST. etc. ALL THEY SEE IS A LEADER THAT ALLOWS THEIR IRRATIONAL AND SOCIOPATHIC BELIEFS AND ACTIONS TO BE ALLOWED AND COMMENDED.

Sen. Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala., compared descendants of enslaved people to criminals on Saturday at a rally for former President Donald Trump, drawing intense backlash for promoting a racist narrative.

In front of an overwhelmingly white crowd in Minden, Nevada, Tuberville criticized Democrats for being "pro-crime."

"They want crime because they want to take over what you got. They want to control what you have. They want reparations because they think the people that do the crime are owed that," Tuberville added. "Bull****! They are not owed that."

In a press statement, NAACP President Derrick Johnson called Tuberville's comments "flat out racist, ignorant and utterly sickening."

"His words promote a centuries-old lie about Black people that throughout history has resulted in the most dangerous policies and violent attacks on our community," Johnson added.

Tuberville's office did not immediately respond to NPR's request for comment.

Over the years, there's been growing support to offer reparations for Black Americans whose ancestors were enslaved as a way to address the lingering effects of slavery.

Last spring, a bill to study reparations for slavery had the support of more than 170 Democratic co-sponsors. A House committee voted to advance the legislation but it has yet to be considered by the full House of Representatives.

Democrats do not have an explicit policy surrounding reparations, though some prominent party members have advocated for the idea.

CNN POLITICS. Biden finalizes plan to open up Obamacare subsidies to more families.

 By , CNN

CNN —

More families will be able to access Affordable Care Act subsidies next year, under a final rule issued by the Biden administration Tuesday.

The announcement comes less than a month before the start of open enrollment for 2023 coverage on the Obamacare exchanges. Americans can start signing up on November 1.

The final rule aims to address a longstanding problem with Obamacare’s regulations pertaining to the affordability of employer coverage, known as the “family glitch.”

Under the health reform law, workers who don’t have “affordable” health insurance options through their jobs can qualify for subsidized coverage on the Obamacare exchanges. A work-based policy is considered “affordable” if it costs the employee less than roughly 10% of his or her income for single coverage.

However, the Affordable Care Act doesn’t take into account the increase in premiums for adding family members to the policy, even if it pushes the cost above the threshold. In these cases, workers and their families aren’t eligible for financial assistance to buy Affordable Care Act coverage.

The average annual premium for a single worker was just over $7,700 in 2021 but topped $22,000 for a family, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation.

Some 5.1 million Americans, a majority of them children, are affected by the family glitch, according to Kaiser.

The rule allows family members of workers who are offered affordable single coverage but unaffordable family policies to qualify for subsidies on the Obamacare exchanges.

In addition to affordability of job-based coverage, the final rule specifies that family members must be offered policies that meet minimum value requirements and have substantial coverage of hospitalizations and physician services, said Karen Pollitz, a senior fellow at Kaiser.

“This marks the most significant administration action to implement the Affordable Care Act since the law was first put into place,” President Joe Biden said in a statement.

About 1 million people would either gain coverage or see reductions in premiums, according to the White House.

If finalized, the rule would go into effect in January 2023, but families can take advantage of it when they sign up during open enrollment.

The Congressional Budget Office has previously pegged the cost of the plan at $45 billion over 10 years.

Record interest

A record 14.5 million people signed up for 2022 coverage during open enrollment – lured in part by enhanced federal subsidies.

The Democrats’ $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief package, which was enacted in March 2021, has temporarily made the subsidies more generous and opened them up to more middle-class Americans. It also allows lower-income Americans to sign up for Obamacare coverage with $0 premiums on the federal exchange outside of the open enrollment period.

The enhanced subsidies, which were originally scheduled to expire at the end of the year, were extended through 2025 as part of the Inflation Reduction Act, which passed in August.
