THIS MOMENT IN OUR COUNTRY. MAURA SULLIVAN.

David,

I hope this finds you healthy and well during this challenging time for our country and for each of our families.

I ran for office to bring the values of courage, integrity, and empathy––values instilled in me as a United States Marine––to our government. Like many of us, I have been reflecting recently on the values we see in our country’s leadership and the unprecedented moment we find ourselves in––grappling with a global pandemic that has killed more than 170,000 Americans and a president that is engaging in actions that simply aren’t normal. Sadly, we see racial injustice throughout our country amidst a significant economic downturn, all as we continue to combat the increasing effects of climate change. Our country and our politics have become cripplingly divisive and our own allies who once revered us for our leadership role in the world, now question whether they can count on us at all.

We are at a dark moment in our country’s history. But I am writing today to tell you that I still have hope.

Since I last reached out, I have been working hard to elect candidates who share our values up and down the ballot in New Hampshire and around the country.

Through hosting town halls, house parties, fundraisers, and by knocking on doors for myriad candidates in New Hampshire, I am optimistic due to the grassroots energy for change that I am seeing throughout our state.

In January of this year, I joined the campaign of my good friend Mayor Pete Buttigieg as one of his presidential campaign co-chairs in New Hampshire during our historic First in the Nation Primary. At a time when the president continues to try to divide us, I believed in Pete to call us to the values that have made America not just a world power but a world leader.

In May, I was honored to be asked by the leadership of the New Hampshire Democratic Party to serve as the Co-chair for our New Hampshire Democratic Party State Convention, and was proud to lead a convention where over 3,000 Democrats from around the Granite State participated virtually.
And just this past week, I was proud to cast my vote for Vice-President Biden as an elected New Hampshire Delegate to the Democratic National Convention. When I served in the Obama Administration, I had a number of opportunities to see the Vice-President’s leadership and values up close. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will bring us out of this dark period in our country’s history and restore the soul of our great nation.

In the 68 days until the election, I will be working hard toward electing leaders that embody the values that I ran on in 2018 and ensuring that every New Hampshire citizen who is eligible has the ability to vote. I will continue to co-chair the New Hampshire Democratic Party’s Veterans & Military Families Caucus and will campaign throughout New Hampshire for the Biden/Harris ticket and for our local candidates.
I would love to share some of the work we are doing with you in the coming weeks and to let you know how you can get involved.

Thank you,
Maura Sullivan

Update on the 2021 APA Eastern and Central Division Meetings. AMERICAN PHILOSOPHICAL ASSOCIATION.

American
 Philosophical Association

Dear DAVID,

Over the past several months, the APA leadership, including the board of officers and the executive committees of all three divisions, have been closely monitoring developments related to the coronavirus pandemic and its potential impact on divisional meetings planned for 2021.

Regrettably, it has now become clear that the pandemic’s effects will not have sufficiently abated for us to hold in-person meetings early in 2021. We have therefore decided that the Eastern Division meeting planned for January 2021 and the Central Division meeting planned for February 2021 will not be held in person. We are now developing plans to hold these meetings virtually.

We expect that the virtual meetings will be held on approximately the same dates scheduled for the in-person meetings, and all or nearly all the sessions planned for the in-person meetings will go forward in virtual format. Program participants for each of these meetings will soon receive additional information related to scheduling and planning their sessions for the new virtual format. We will announce further details about the virtual meetings as they become available, both by email and on the meeting pages on the APA website.

We will share additional information about the Pacific Division meeting, currently planned for March 31 through April 3, 2021, in Portland, OR, as it becomes available.

Thank you for your understanding and patience as we navigate these challenging circumstances. We hope you are healthy and safe, and we look forward to gathering with you (virtually or in-person) soon.

All the best,

Amy Ferrer, Executive Director
Jeff Dunn, Eastern Division Secretary-Treasurer
Elyse Purcell, Central Division Secretary-Treasurer
Becko Copenhaver, Pacific Division Secretary-Treasurer

We need these reproductive rights champions in Congress. PLANNED PARENTHOOD ADVOCACY FUND OF MASS.

Planned Parenthood Advocacy Fund of Massachusetts
www.searchingforreason.net

Since 2016, Donald Trump and Mike Pence have made it their mission to control our bodies, take away our health care, and deny us our rights. Although our country will be dealing with the ramifications of these attacks for years to come, we’ve been able to thwart many of their plans because of direct action by activists like you and the leadership of members of Congress who champion reproductive rights and freedoms.
As a national leader, Massachusetts must elect and re-elect members of Congress who fight back whenever reproductive and sexual health care are attacked and who prioritize bold solutions to improve the health and wellbeing of every person.
That’s why I couldn’t be happier that the Planned Parenthood Action Fund has endorsed the following candidates for the U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives:
Our health, our rights, and our freedoms are on the line, and the decisions we make this election season will shape our futures. With so much at stake, we need to elect leaders who will not only work to undo that damage the Trump administration has wreaked but work to build a more equitable future.

If you requested a mail in ballot, make a plan to return it, safely vote early, or vote on September 1st to send these champions to Congress.

These candidates are not only committed to dismantling racist bans on abortion coverage and stopping the “defunding” of Planned Parenthood, they are committed to strengthening our rights and improving our access to care. They know that true reproductive freedom can only be achieved by fighting for racial justice, economic justice, and climate justice. I hope you’ll cast your ballot for each of the proven leaders representing your district. We need them in Congress now more than ever.
In solidarity,
