Protecting Washingtonians from predatory real estate deals. WASHINGTON ATT. GEN. BOB FERGUSON.

David -- Can you get much lower than preying on individuals facing foreclosure?

Last week, my office put a real estate company out of business after it tried to illegally scam Washingtonians facing foreclosure.

Kirkland- and Portland-based Real Estate Investment Network, LLC (REIN) tried to rip off foreclosed homeowners out of equity amounting to tens of thousands of dollars in surplus funds after sales. REIN approached 35 consumers as part of their deceptive scheme, and they had unlawful contracts with 16 of these consumers. REIN tried to charge a Buckley farmer $90,000 in unlawful fees.

REIN just entered into a legally binding agreement to dissolve. In addition, the company’s principals will pay up to $85,000 for their conduct.

Under no circumstances should any consumer in Washington be taken advantage of by a company. That’s why I’m fighting as your Attorney General to enforce the Consumer Protection Act and hold powerful interests accountable.

Foreclosure is stressful enough without scammers taking money rightfully owed to homeowners. My office will continue to be a watchdog for these consumers and for every injustice committed against Washingtonians.

Best,
Bob

SIGN ON: Stop President Trump's border wall. MARK HERRING.

Dear David --

Earlier this year, I worked to block President Trump’s illicit redirection of federal funding for his unnecessary border wall. This action was part of a joint lawsuit across 20 states to halt the production of Trump’s anti-immigrant symbol along the southern border, which was never more than a bad faith campaign promise.

Now the president is trying to override Congress and force taxpayers to foot the bill for his border wall. This wall is nothing more than a tangible dog whistle for his base and a stain on the geography and history of our country -- and now we’ve learned that the funds he’s diverting for his wall will come at the expense of supporting military families and their children’s education.

I will continue to fight any further construction or funding of his wall, but I need your support. Your name and your voice can put us over the edge in this battle.

We need to be progressing as a country, not regressing. Walls are both ineffective and archaic. In this day and age, our elected officials should be making this country work for more people, not trying to figure out how to stop its growth.

I’m happy to have you on our side,

Mark

DEMAND THE REPUBLICANS BREAK THE SILENCE. JENNIFER WEXTON.

In a remarkable press conference on Thursday, Trump's acting chief of staff, Mick Mulvaney, admitted that aid to Ukraine had been held up because Trump wanted Ukraine to launch a probe into his political opponents.

As reported by The Washington Post:

“We do that all the time with foreign policy,” [Mulvaney] said when it was pointed out that he appeared to be describing a quid pro quo. He added: "I have news for everybody: Get over it. There’s going to be political influence in foreign policy.”

The Trump administration is so flagrant in their disrespect of the rule of law that they'll openly admit their wrongdoing. And they think they can get away with it because so far, their Republican allies on Capitol Hill have dodged questions and made excuses.

That has to change. Some things are more important than party politics -- and when it comes to stopping foreign interference in our elections, we need to put country above party.

So please add your name to demand that Republicans break their silence and condemn the blatant wrongdoing -- which this White House has now admitted to.
Thank you,

Team Wexton

HOW DOES THIS SURPRISE ANYONE? TIME AFTER TIME, DONALD TRUMP HAS DISPLAYED A COMPLETE LACK OF INTEGRITY, LEADERSHIP ABILITY, OR INTELLECTUAL DISCIPLINE THAT WOULD BE LAUGHABLE, IF IT DIDN'T MEAN THAT HIS SOLE PURPOSE WHILE OCCUPYING THE WHITE HOUSE SEEMS TO BE TO DESTROY OUR CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC, AND CREATE A FASCIST STATE THAT CATERS TO THE VERY FEW. (ESPECIALLY THOSE WHO PROMOTE HIS FOREIGN POLICY: CREATING A HOLY WAR OF "ARMAGEDDON.")
