David, June is National Gun Violence Awareness Month. It’s a time to remember those who have been taken from us in acts of senseless gun violence -- and a time to redouble our efforts to reform our laws so we can limit these tragedies. I am thinking especially of the twelve people who lost their lives three weeks ago in Virginia Beach during a mass shooting. It’s also not the first time our Commonwealth has been painfully impacted by gun violence in recent years. We owe it to Virginians -- and to all Americans -- to finally act. The Senate is currently blocking a vote on a sweeping gun safety bill that we’ve passed in the House. Will you join me today and demand a vote that will help save lives? Today, an entire generation is burdened with a lifetime of student debt that leaves them less likely to own a home, and with lower wages and more debt than generations before them. We should not be punishing people for getting a college education.

It’s time to hit the reset button.

That is why today I am proud to introduce a plan in Congress with Reps. Ilhan Omar and Pramila Jayapal that will guarantee college as a right for all and that will cancel ALL student debt — $1.6 trillion owed by 45 million Americans, gone within six months.

And Wall Street is going to pay for the whole thing.

Our plan is revolutionary. Here is what we are going to do:

• College must be a right for everyone, so tuition will be free at all public colleges and universities.
• We’re going to cancel all $1.6 trillion in existing student loans.
• Provide additional assistance to students who need it to make college fully debt-free.
• Cap future student loan rates at 1.88% interest.

Wall Street is going to pay small taxes on their gambling — and those taxes will pay for our entire plan.

We need the best-educated workforce in the world if we're going to compete effectively in the global economy. To do that, we must make certain that every person in this country who has the desire can get all the education they need — regardless of their race, their gender, their ZIP code, or the income of their family.

A full and complete education, from child care through college, must be a human right accessible to anyone who wants it.

It is a tragedy that hundreds of thousands of young people are giving up their dream of going to college because it is too expensive. And it is absurd that we have, at the same time, sentenced an entire generation to a lifetime of debt for doing simply what was expected of them — getting a college education.

That's not what America is supposed to be about. So we’re going to do something about it.

In 2008, Wall Street created a crisis of its own, and in return got a government bailout worth trillions of dollars. It was the biggest taxpayer bailout in history.

Now it’s time for Wall Street to pay it back.

We are going to cancel all student debt. We are going to make public colleges and universities tuition-free and debt-free. We’re going to create an economy that works for all of us, not just the top one percent.

And we’re going to do it together.

Proposals must be submitted by June 30. The APA board of officers will consider applications at its fall meeting in November, and funding will be provided in early 2020.   Small Grant Fund Each year, the APA's small grant fund, financed by the Eastern Division, awards up to $25,000 in grants for projects that benefit the profession. QUICK HITTERS. FOR THE PEOPLE...?

As the UNITED STATES Endures the Horror and Tragedy of another Multiple Victim Shooting Incident, Involving Individual(s) who had access to Assault Weapons, will it finally motivate Republicans into adopting stricter gun control laws? Probably not. Let's face it, if the slaughter of small children at SANDY HOOK COULDN'T MOVE THEM INTO ACTION, WHY DO YOU THINK THE MASSACRE OF HELPLESS INDIVIDUALS IN LAS VEGAS WOULD LEAD TO CHANGE?

In the past, the NRA AND THEIR CRONIES* IN GOVERNMENT HAVE REFUSED TO ENACT LAWS MANDATING BACKGROUND CHECKS, WHICH WOULD INCLUDE CRIMINAL AND MENTAL HEALTH GUIDELINES. In addition, RESTRICTING ASSAULT WEAPONS TO THE MILITARY AND POLICE FORCES,(Who actually REQUIRE BACKGROUND CHECKS BEFORE YOU ARE HANDED A FIREARM, LET ALONE ONE THAT CAN CAUSE DOZENS OF CASUALTIES IN A FEW MINUTES), SEEMS TO BE A CONCEPT THEY HAVE TROUBLE GRASPING.

Knowing what we do about INVALIDLY ELECTED PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP AND HIS ADMINISTRATION, CAN WE EXPECT LOGIC AND REASON TO FINALLY MOTIVATE THOSE WHO OPPOSE ANY FORM OF GUN CONTROL TO CHANGE?  

I have already written about the CONSTITUTIONAL ISSUES, and will do so again in the future. However, LOGIC AND REASON IS NOT THEIR STRONG SUIT, SO REPUBLICANS USE DIFFERENT MESSAGES TO IGNORE, AVOID, AND CONFUSE THOSE WHO SEEK TO UNDERSTAND THE MOTIVATIONS FOR DOING NOTHING.

Before I answer that, consider the following, WHICH SHOULD REMIND YOU OF THE MENTALITY, WORLD VIEW, AND PRIORITIES OF THE NATIONAL REPUBLICAN PARTY.

-  UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE.                                         OPPOSE ALL

-  RAISING THE MINIMUM WAGE.                                           OF

-  RESTRICTIONS AND DISCLOSURE LAWS,                       

   ON CONTROLLING  CAMPAIGN SPENDING.

-  PROVIDING SANCTUARY FOR WAR REFUGEES 

   FROM SYRIA.

-  STRICT OVERSIGHT OF FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS.

...AND, OF COURSE, COMPREHENSIVE GUN CONTROL

   LAWS.

                                                   FOR THE PEOPLE...?

Now, add Donald Trump to the mix.  WHAT DO YOU THINK IS GOING TO HAPPEN?  HOW DOES THE OPPOSITION INTIMIDATE A "PRESIDENT" WHO ATTAINED OFFICE THROUGH A SHAM ELECTION, THAT THEY DIDN'T CONTEST?
