Don’t let the US Census discriminate. CONGRESSIONAL CANDIDATE JASON RITTEREISER.

David,

The Trump Administration has proposed adding a troubling question to the upcoming 2020 U.S. Census: “What is your citizenship status?”

This kind of question hasn’t been asked on a Census since the 1950s, and for good reason: It’s designed to scare our immigrant neighbors and keep them from being accurately counted.

This blatantly racist tactic could have consequences for decades to come -- including the number of representatives each state gets in Congress, the number of votes each state gets in the Electoral College, and the amount of federal funding for essential programs like Medicaid, Head Start, and the National School Lunch program.

This seemingly-small move from President Trump hurts all Americans and will drive our immigrant communities into the shadows for ten years.

Thanks for your support,
-- Team Jason

Why Mike Huckabee and Tom Cotton are attacking me on Twitter. U.S. SENATOR JEANNE SHAHEEN. (info@jeanneshaheen.org)

Here’s how Wednesday went, David:
In the morning, Republican Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton took to Twitter to attack me. Then that afternoon, former presidential contender Mike Huckabee piled on, too!
Why? Because I had the nerve to stand up for women and our right to choose.
David, here’s something Tom and Mike should know: I won’t be intimidated – I’m going to keep fighting for international family planning and women’s reproductive rights.
I’ll be up for reelection soon, and Republicans like Cotton and Huckabee are going to do everything they can to replace me with an anti-choice extremist who’d make it harder for women to get the health care they need.
This is 2018. A woman’s health care choices should be between her and her doctor. I’m proud to stand with you and for a woman’s right to make her own reproductive health care decisions.
Thank you for this.
Jeanne

Good News: Medicaid expansion has passed the House!!! Jennifer Boysk. Chair of Run Everywhere.

David,
Virginia Democrats are very close to expanding Medicaid in Virginia. This victory would not have been possible a year ago.

Your support in this past general election allowed us to pick up 15 new seats for Democrats and almost won us Virginia’s House of Delegates. If you saw the news, control of the House literally came down to one vote and a random drawing.

2018 is the first time the Virginia House has ever voted in favor of Medicaid expansion. This progress is due to the substantial gains we made in November, and now, a new and diverse pool of talented Democratic lawmakers sits in the General Assembly.

Republicans in the Virginia Senate are now all that stand in the way of better, more affordable healthcare.

Expanding Medicaid in Virginia would bring new, affordable coverage to 400,000 of the state's lowest-income residents, including 138,000 people who are currently stuck in a horrible coverage gap and have no access to healthcare whatsoever.

Together, we are beginning to make progress not only on this front, but in the workplace, in the classroom, on gun safety, protections for DREAMERS, and on equality for our LGBTQ community.

Winning back control of the Virginia legislature is within our reach. We cannot afford to lose any more elections by a glorified coin flip.

We have a lot of fighting to do. Glad to have you on board.
