Protect the special counsel's investigation. U.S. SENATOR CORY BOOKER.

David,

Late Thursday night, news broke that back in June, President Trump attempted to fire special counsel Robert Mueller but was stopped when the White House Counsel threatened to resign.

This is an alarming revelation that fits into a months-long pattern of behavior from President Trump, his surrogates, and his allies in Congress, who have been relentlessly working to discredit and undermine the credibility of the special counsel and his investigation.

Last August, I introduced bipartisan legislation—the Special Counsel Independence Protection Act—to check and balance the president’s ability to order the firing of a special counsel for anything but legitimate reasons.

The legislation was urgently needed then, and clearly it’s even more urgently needed now.

But despite bipartisan support for our effort, Republican leaders in Congress are refusing to allow our bill to move forward to the floor for a vote.

Clearly, it would be wrong of President Trump to order the firing of Special Counsel Mueller. To do so would shatter norms — and trigger a constitutional crisis.

No one is above the law, and that includes the President of the United States.

A special counsel should follow the facts wherever they might lead, free from prejudice, and free from political interference.

That’s why we need the basic checks and balances outlined in the Special Counsel Independence Protection Act.

Help send a message that we will not tolerate President Trump’s attempts to undermine this investigation—become a citizen co-sponsor of the Special Counsel Independence Protection Act.

Thanks,

Cory

BARACK OBAMA AND IMMIGRATION. PART 2.

WITH THE CONTROVERSY OVER IMMIGRATION LAW REACHING NEW LEVELS OF
IRRATIONALITY AND PREJUDICE, I BELIEVE THAT THE FOLLOWING REPRINTED
ARTICLE WILL GIVE US SOME NSIGHT  INTO HOW THEN PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA
ATTEMPTED TO DEAL WITH THIS SAME ISSUE.

(PLEASE REMEMBER THERE IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS, AND THOSE SEEKING REFUGEE STATUS. THEY ARE NOT THE SAME, IT'S TWO DIFFERENT ISSUES.)

Lets continue with the analysis of the Presidents speech.

"...and undocumented immigrants who desperately want to embrace those responsibilities see little option but to remain in the shadows, or risk their families being torn apart."

This is a Moral Judgment on the choices given to Undocumented Immigrants. That if they reveal Themselves, it would result in their being forced out of the Country. This could mean Physical Separation from their Minor Children.  The President is implying that if there was an alternative solution, that keeps families together, it would be welcomed by those who want to stay in the U.S.,
and live up to all the responsibilities of residing in this Country.

Moving on:  "It's been this way for decades.  And for decades we haven't done much about it.  When I took office, I committed to fixing this broken immigration system, And I began by doing what I could to secure our borders."

The President has acknowledged the problem, but reminds us that he didn't create it.  He is also accusing former administrations of doing little to address the Issue.  However, he committed to solving the problem while in office, and reaffirms it.

"Today we have more agents and technology deployed to secure our southern border than at any time in our history. And over the past six years illegal border crossings have been cut by more than half."

PROTECTING DREAMers. CONGRESSIONAL CANDIDATES JASON RITTEREISER AND PAT RYAN.

David --

While deployed in Iraq, I served alongside DREAMers who came to the United States as children. As a business owner, I’ve seen firsthand how they strengthen our economy.

But today, they live in fear of having their lives upended and the only home they’ve ever known torn away from them -- all because Congress has failed to do their job and find a solution after Trump cruelly terminated DACA.

Now, a bipartisan solution is on the table -- Congress must act.

These young people are our neighbors, our employees, our students, our future Across much of this district, they power our farms and small businesses. Many volunteered to put their lives on the line for this country in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The idea of repaying these patriots by forcing them back into the shadows is outrageous.

Time is running out for Congress to make this right -- but if enough Americans stand up and speak out, they’ll have no choice but to act. Will you join me, David?

-- Pat

David --

What were you dreaming about when you were 17? I was playing baseball and saving up for college. I was able to pursue my dreams at the University of Washington and go on to law school, where I knew I wanted to dedicate my career to standing up for people.

Today, there are 800,000 DREAMers who are at risk of losing their future because Donald Trump abruptly ended The Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. Their lives have been thrown into constant fear of being deported to countries they have never known.

The clock is running out to come up with a legislative solution. Starting in March, 1,400 young people will lose their DACA protections per day

There is a bipartisan solution on the table in the Senate, but it’s dead in the water due to House Republicans and Trump’s inability to make up his mind. His flip-flopping on the bill even led us into a costly government shutdown.

DACA recipients are our neighbors, students, and friends -- they are American in every way. This program gives them a chance to pursue their American Dreams, just like I did.

My dream was to become someone who fights for people who need a voice. Every child in America has a fundamental right to an education so they can pursue their dream and succeed.

BARACK OBAMA AND IMMIGRATION. PART 1.

WITH THE CONTROVERSY OVER IMMIGRATION LAW REACHING NEW LEVELS OF

ATTEMPTED TO DEAL WITH THIS SAME ISSUE.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Lets try a Novel Approach, Ignoring what the Political Pundits on Television and the Radio Have to
say, and actually READ THE TRANSCRIPT FROM PRESIDENT OBAMAS IMMIGRATION SPEECH.
It is available on line.  So, if you are interested, why not Download it, before passing Judgment.

The following Posts on this Topic, are my Thoughts and Opinions taken directly from the Transcript.

Lets get started.

He opens by praising the Two- Hundred Year+ History of the U.S. welcoming Immigrants from around the World, and the Advantages it has given the Country over other Nations.

However, he goes on to say:

"...Today, our immigration system is broken, and everybody knows it.  Families who enter our country the right way and play by the rules watch others flout the rules.  Business owners who offer their workers good wages and benefits see the competition exploit undocumented immigrants by paying them less."

From this passage we can take the following;

-  The President is acknowledging the State of the Immigration System, AND THE NEED FOR IT TO BE FIXED.

-  That the way the system is currently operated victimizes;  Legal Immigrants who follow the Law, and Honest Business Owners who offer good wages and benefits, who see competitors using undocumented workers to save money.

The President goes on to say;

"All of us take offense to anyone who reaps the rewards of living in America without taking on the responsibilities of living in America."

-  In other words, the Advantages and Responsibilities go hand and hand.  With one comes the other.
