I WAS ASKED TO ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTION ON QUORA.COM: HOW CAN WE CREATE A MORE PATRIOTIC CITIZENRY?
MY ANSWER:
I have avoided answering any question regarding “PATRIOTISM.” Why? It’s a word that cannot really be defined in a way that is truly descriptive of a specific type of citizen.
How many people would agree that the following would be expected of a Patriot.
- Love of Country.
Do you love your country if you violate its Constitution?
Do you love your country if you are against its foreign policy?
Do you love your country if you cheat on your taxes?
Do you love your country if you choose to Abuse or Take advantage
of other citizens?
…and so on.
Guess what, we would find individuals claiming to be DIE HARD PATRIOTS,
who would say the opposition does not truly love their country, on all sides
of each issue.
To me, and it’s my opinion, a TRUE PATRIOT STANDS BACK, AND SAYS:
“I BELIEVE MY COUNTRY MUST COME FIRST, AND IT MAY MEAN THAT I MUST MAKE A SACRIFICE THAT WOULD ALLOW IT TO THRIVE. THIS MEANS CONSIDERING THE NEEDS AND WANTS OF OTHER CITIZENS WHICH ARE CONTRARY TO MY BELIEFS AND/OR MY DESIRES. HOWEVER, IF MY GOVERNMENT WANTS ME TO ALLOW THIS TO OCCUR, I EXPECT MY GOVERNMENT TO ENSURE THAT THEY DO THE SAME FOR ME. IF I EXPECT GOVERNMENT TO BE THERE FOR ME IN TIMES OF HARDSHIP, I WILL SUPPORT IT DOING THE SAME FOR OTHERS.
I REALIZE THAT GOVERNMENT MAY PASS OR ENACT LAWS THAT MAY BE CONTRARY TO WHAT I WANT, BUT I WILL CONSIDER THIS: IS IT DONE TO VICTIMIZE ME, OR IS IT DONE TO MAKE SOCIETY A BETTER PLACE FOR ALL TO LIVE IN. FREEDOM DOES NOT MEAN DOING ANYTHING I WANT, TO WHOMEVER I WANT, AND EXPECTING GOVERNMENT TO TURN A BLIND EYE.
HOWEVER, MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL: WE ARE NOT AMERICANS, CHRISTIANS, MOSLEMS, EUROPEANS, ASIANS.etc.,…FIRST…WE ARE HUMANITY FIRST AND FOREMOST, ALL THE REST IS JUST CATEGORIZING US. A TRUE PATRIOT REALIZES THAT THEY ARE CITIZENS OF THE HUMAN RACE FIRST, AND CITIZENS OF A COUNTRY SECOND. START WITH DEFINING HUMAN RIGHTS, AND GO FROM THERE.”

DOCTORS WITHOUT BORDERS. Climate change is fueling disease outbreaks around the world.

Unusually heavy monsoon rains in Pakistan have left one-third of the country underwater and impacted the lives of over 33 million people in a country whose health system has long struggled to meet the overwhelming need for care.
With more than 1,800 staff currently active in the country—97 percent of whom are locally hired—Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) was able to quickly respond to the crisis, putting Aid First for patients in need. But the destruction caused by the floods was only the first obstacle we faced; since August, MSF staff on the ground have seen a spike in mosquito- and water-borne diseases like malaria and dengue fever as a direct result of the flooding.
The situation we see unfolding in Pakistan is just one symptom of a much larger problem: climate change is making extreme weather like this more and more frequent—and the countries that are least equipped to deal with the consequences are the ones that are the most affected.

To ease the strain on the Texas Power Grid, We should start by cutting off electricity to the homes of everyone who voted for Greg Abbott back in November.
To all of you who voted for Abbott, please turn off your power so decent people can stay warm.
So far, w/the exception of only 1 or 2 counties, a majority of power outages are in counties where Abbott won a large majority of the vote. I hope all of those voters can stay safe and warm, but then again, you get what you vote for.

On Christmas Eve as Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus, the son who saved mankind,
drops children and adults on the the street in freezing cold - no shelter, no food - in the midst of a "bomb cyclone." No one who supports this can call themselves Christian.
He has a bitter soul and wants NO ONE to be happy. Especially those who have the least, those seeking asylum!
