David, across the country Americans are coming together after these tragic shootings and asking: What can we do? How do we make this stop?

We must call white nationalism by its name and never tolerate it.

And we have to pass common sense gun reform, starting with universal background checks. Americans have been calling for action, but Senate Republicans aren’t listening.

So David, if you’re looking for ways to help, consider calling Mitch McConnell at (202) 224-2541 and demanding the Senate pass H.R.8 -- The Bipartisan Background Checks Act.

And if you can afford to donate to help aide families in El Paso and Dayton, funds have been set up in both cities to provide immediate assistance to victims and their families. You can find links to donate directly to these efforts here →

We are an America that helps our neighbors and fights for what is right.

We can restore the soul of this nation if we keep working together.

No more thoughts and prayers. KAMALA HARRIS.

David,
Yesterday in El Paso, 20 people lost their lives at a shopping mall. It was a Saturday afternoon.
They were killed by a man with an assault rifle, and it was over in minutes.

And then, late last night, nine people were killed during a mass shooting at a bar in Dayton, Ohio, by a
man wearing body armor, wielding what has been described as an “assault-style weapon.” The shooting
lasted no more than 1 minute.
This is life in America in 2019. People are killed by guns in schools, at festivals, at concerts, at places of
worship, in malls, and at picnics -- everywhere people live their lives. El Paso was the 250th mass
shooting in America this year, and Dayton is 251.

This doesn’t happen anywhere else. It happens in America because our so-called leaders lack the courage
to act. And frankly, I’ve had enough. Have you?

As President, I will ask Congress to place comprehensive gun reform on my desk
within 100 days. If they fail to act, I will take action. Here is what I will do:
  • I will revoke the licenses of gun manufacturers and dealers that break the law
  • and take the most egregious offenders to court.
  • I will mandate the most comprehensive background checks in history by
  • requiring anyone who sells more than five guns in a year to run a background
  • check on all Gun Sales.
  • And I will ban the importation of AR-15-style assault weapons into the United
  •  States.
These are actions well within the powers of the presidency. And I will take them. This is a public health
emergency that needs to be addressed.

No more thoughts and prayers. We need action. If you’re with me, split a contribution to
Giffords, the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, and Moms Demand Action for
Gun Sense in America »

Thank you for adding your voice to this fight. We can’t accept this as normal in America.
We have to act, and we have to act now.

For the People,

— Kamala Harris

We should not have to live like this. JENNIFER WEXTON.

David, this is absolutely devastating.

News reports are saying 19 people were just murdered and 40 others injured in another gun massacre at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas. One victim was reportedly only four months old.

That means we just added families shopping with their children at a local big box store to the list of unsafe activities here in America.

This comes on the heels of adding a family-friendly festival in Gilroy, California to the list -- a massacre from which families haven’t even buried their children yet.

How many children need to be slaughtered?

How many more routine activities need to be added to the list?

When will Donald J. Trump, Mitch McConnell, and other NRA-backed politicians do SOMETHING to keep our kids safe?

Enough thoughts and prayers.

We should not have to live like this. I promise I will not stop fighting until we take real steps to stem the tide of gun violence.

In solidarity,

Jennifer

"TRUMP IS WRONG." IS FOX TIRED OF DEFENDING DONALD TRUMPS FAIRY TALES?

Immediately after President Donald Trump boasted to White House reporters that the United States rakes in billions of dollars from China because of his tariffs, Fox News anchor Neil Cavuto issued an on-air fact-check of the president’s remarks, directly telling his viewers that Trump is wrong.
While taking questions on the White House lawn Friday afternoon, the president insisted Americans farmers are fully behind his trade war and support his latest tariffs on $300 billion worth of goods from China.
“Remember this, our country is taking in billions and billions of dollars from China,” Trump exclaimed. “We never took in ten cents from China. Out of that many billions of dollars, we’re taking a part of it and giving it to the farmers because they’ve been targeted by China. The farmers, they come out totally whole.”
Right away, Cavuto cut away from the president’s impromptu press gaggle to point out that, once again, Trump was not telling the truth when it came to who pays for tariffs.
“I don’t know where to begin here,” the Fox News host said. “Just to be clarifying, China isn’t paying these tariffs. You are. You know, indirectly and sometimes directly.”
He continued: “It’s passed along to you through American distributors and their counterparts in the United States that buy this stuff from the Chinese and have to pay the surcharges. Not the Chinese government.”
Cavuto went on to say that he does not understand what the president was talking about regarding “devaluation of added cost in China” before noting that this latest round of tariffs “will be felt by consumers directly.”
The longtime Fox News and Fox Business Network anchor has been somewhat critical of the president’s economic policies of late. Earlier this week, he got into a heated on-air debate with Trump-boosting Fox Business host Lou Dobbs over the exploding national debt and deficit under the Trump administration.
