Who's leading the resistance in Massachusetts? EMILY'S LIST.

David,

Nominations for the annual Gabrielle Giffords Rising Star Award are now open!

This award is something we give out every year to a woman currently serving in state or local office who has a bright career in public service ahead of her.

Last year was huge for women in state and local politics, with so many of them setting up critical protections for their communities against the Trump agenda and so many new faces running and winning for the first time.

If you know an elected woman who is a leader in your community, we'd love to hear about her.

Who do you think should be the next Gabrielle Giffords Rising Star Award recipient? Nominate a pro-choice Democratic woman in state or local office who is doing great work.

The Rising Star Award recognizes pro-choice Democratic women serving in state legislatures, mayors' offices, city councils, school boards, and beyond. It's a way to say thank you for her work and show that we will support her wherever her career takes her next.

Past winners include Philadelphia City Councilwoman Helen Gym, Colorado Speaker of the House Crisanta Duran, Boston City Councilwoman Ayanna Pressley, and former Georgia House Minority Leader and current gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams.

They all have something in common: They tirelessly fight for women, families, and their communities. And we know the 2018 Rising Star is out there doing the same thing right now.

But we need your help to find her and celebrate her work.

Nominate a pro-choice Democratic woman serving in state or local office for the 2018 Gabrielle Giffords Rising Star Award:

My good friend Joe. U.S. SENATOR CORY BOOKER.

David,

Last year, I had the privilege of traveling to Indiana with my good friend and colleague Senator Joe Donnelly to talk to Hoosiers about defending health care, improving education, and staying engaged on the issues that matter most.

Here’s what you need to know about Joe: He’s a crucial voice in the coalition fighting for the middle class. But he’s up for re-election this year and his race is already becoming a key target for Republicans.

The New York Times and The Washington Post agree that Joe is one of the most vulnerable senators in the country. Dark money groups have already spent millions trying to defeat him. And Donald Trump has promised to “campaign against him like you wouldn’t believe.”

We need to have Joe’s back...and protect Indiana’s Democratic Senate seat...
Keeping Joe in the Senate is critical to preventing Republicans from getting a bigger majority -- and it’s a must-win for Democrats if we’re going to take back the Senate this year.

All that stands in the way of Republicans taking another Senate seat is grassroots supporters...

On Joe’s behalf -- thank you,

Cory

Shutting them down. CONG. CAND. JIM HARBAUGH.

David --
There is no more basic duty for members of our government than keeping our government open.
If Congress fails at this, hundreds of thousands of federal employees will go without work.
The Smithsonian will close. Head Start programs will close. Some military training will be eliminated.
The American people will find themselves without basic services. There will be no staff to answer questions about military benefits. Working parents will be without childcare. Chronically-ill patients will be unable to enroll in federal clinical trials.
And in the case of a government shutdown, thousands of hard-working men and women will not receive a paycheck.
But members of Congress will. That’s right, even during a shutdown, Congress still gets paid.
Come on, Congress. Do your job.
Folks, if our members of Congress will not work for us, then this November, we have only one choice: we must elect new candidates who will.
In service,
Ken

Restoring faith in our government. CONG. CAND. JOSH WELLE.

Hi David --

In September 2017 I announced that I am running for Congress in New Jersey’s 4th Congressional District. I’ve dedicated my life to serving my country and putting my community first. Now, I hope to continue that service in the House of Representatives.
After graduating from the Naval Academy, I deployed to Afghanistan, the Middle East, and Asia to protect our country and preserve our values. You’ve seen, as I have, the fabric of the very society we fought to protect become fraught and frayed. I believe we deserve to have faith in our government again.

That’s why I’m running to represent New Jersey’s Fourth District in the House of Representatives.
My hometown congressman, Chris Smith, doesn’t represent the middle class, hasn’t held a town hall in over 23 years, and holds no positions of leadership in Congress. He has done nothing to stop the assaults on the working people and families of Central New Jersey.
I am running for Congress because Washington is broken and it is going to take new ideas and new people to fix it.

Our campaign is about bringing integrity back to politics and working with others to provide concrete solutions to complex problems. It’s about working across the aisle, putting ethical principles first, and exercising political pragmatism. Mostly, it’s about finding innovative and fresh ways to make government work for all Americans.

It’s going to be a challenge to unseat a 36-year incumbent, but with your support, I’m confident we can succeed.
Thank you,
Josh Welle
