David --
My co-founder Ross Morales Rocketto and I launched Run for Something in January 2017 to take back the thousands of seats that Republicans have collected over the last few decades -- and to give young women, people of color, LGBT people, veterans, people with disabilities, and anyone who has been underrepresented in politics the support they needed to launch their very own campaign. Here’s what I’ve been proudly telling people since then: What we’ve done in less than two years would not have been possible without the support of Hillary Clinton and Onward Together. Their checks have kept us afloat as we expanded from two people sitting on our couches with our dogs to a team of more than 12 staffers and a program that’s recruited more than 28,000 could-be candidates. And the mentorship from the Onward Together team has steered us through more than a few tricky situations. Amanda Litman Run for Something A note from Hillary: Run for Something was one of the first groups that Onward Together supported following our launch last year -- not only because co-founders Ross and Amanda were both involved in my 2016 campaign, but because their organization embodies the very mission of Onward Together: to shine a light on the incredible work being done right now to make our country a better place. In 2017, Ross and Amanda asked a simple, yet critical question: What if more progressive young people from diverse backgrounds had the chance to run for office? The results have been astonishing: In less than two years, Run for Something has recruited 28,000 young diverse progressives who want to run for office, and elected more than 200 of them to local office in 40 states. While first-time candidates usually win at a rate of 10%, nearly half of all Run for Something candidates have won. I’m so proud that Onward Together has been able to work with Run for Something in their first two years, and I’m looking forward to many more years of watching them change the face of politics for the better. Need your help (health care). VIRGINIA ATTORNEY GENERAL MARK HERRING.
David,
Republicans just scored a political victory in their crusade to dismantle the Affordable Care Act through the courts – but this fight isn’t over. That’s why I’m standing with 19 state Attorneys General to defend health care for more than 20 million Americans.
Americans and Virginians with pre-existing conditions rely on the Affordable Care Act to protect their health care. But if Republicans successfully dismantle the ACA, our entire health care system will be thrown into chaos, leaving millions without coverage. With so much on the line, it's critical that every one of us speaks out.
This case is already moving through the courts, so we don't have a moment to waste. I need 10,000 people to make their voices heard before midnight: Sign the petition to defend health care for Virginians!
Thank you for speaking out,
Mark

An update from our partners: Hillary Clinton.
David --
Our partner organizations are the heart of Onward Together. In the 2018 cycle, we were able to give more than $2.5 million in funding and grants to organizations fighting to make our country a better place. We also helped to raise more than $12 million for progressive groups, candidates, and committees in 2018 -- that’s no small feat. As we finalize our plans for what Onward Together will take on in 2019 and beyond, we asked our partner organizations to share what they were able to accomplish in 2018 with Onward Together’s support. I was blown away by what they told me, and I thought you would be too. Nine Indivisible-endorsed candidates won -- including Antonio Delgado in NY-19, Tom Malinowski in NJ-07, and Harley Rouda in CA-48, all of whom helped flip the House. Overall, the margin in their endorsed races swung 8 points to the left. Among races rated “Solid R”, that swing was 15 points.
I’m so proud to work alongside these smart, passionate partners -- and I hope you’ll agree that investing in their work is one of the most important things we can do right now.
Thank you -- and onward! Hillary |

40,000 AMERICANS. VIRGINIA ATTORNEY GENERAL MARK HERRING.
In 2017, guns claimed more lives than any other year in American history. Nearly 40,000 Americans died from gunshots. That's more than 100 Americans every single day.
Let me say that again: More than 100 Americans per day were killed by a gun in America.
Loss on this scale is heartbreaking. It's devastating. And we have to put a stop to it.
There are commonsense measures that we know can save lives. All it takes is the political courage to stand up to the NRA and the gun lobby.
I'm so encouraged, because Congress is now controlled by Democrats who are committed to gun violence prevention – including great new Virginia Congresswomen Jennifer Wexton, Abigail Spanberger and Elaine Luria.
The NRA is losing this fight, and they know it, but they won't give up easily.
We have the power to defeat the NRA at the ballot box, in the halls of Congress and even at the State Capitol in Richmond. If we all stand up and make our voices heard, we'll save lives and make our communities safer, stronger places.
Thanks for standing beside me!
Mark
