AMERICAN PHILOSOPHICAL ASSOCIATION. Calls for Proposals: The AAPT-APA Teaching Hub at the 2021 Pacific Division meeting.

American Philosophical Association

Dear DAVID,

The APA Committee on the Teaching of Philosophy (CTP) and the American Association of Philosophy Teachers (AAPT) invite proposals for Teaching Hub sessions at the 2021 Pacific Division meeting in Portland, OR, March 31–April 4.

Note: Currently, all three APA divisions are planning to hold in-person meetings in 2021. At the same time, we are also considering alternative formats, such as virtual meetings, as contingencies in the case that our usual meeting format becomes impossible. Though external forces like the ongoing pandemic affect and inform our plans, your participation is the most critical input for planning any meeting. If you are considering submitting a proposal, we encourage you to do so.

The AAPT-APA Teaching Hub is a series of interactive workshops and conversations designed specifically for philosophers and created to celebrate teaching within the context of the APA divisional meetings. Jointly organized by the CTP and the AAPT, the Teaching Hub aims to offer a range of high-quality and inclusive development opportunities that address the teaching of philosophy at all levels, pre-college through graduate school.
Please consider submitting a proposal for one of more of the following sessions at the 2021 Pacific Division meeting by September 1:
The complete calls for proposals are available on the APA website.

Teaching Hub Poster Sessions

Each Teaching Hub includes a poster session and reception featuring both independent work by undergraduate students and innovative work in the teaching of philosophy by faculty and graduate students.

If you have something of your own to share with your colleagues—a new teaching technique, course proposal, assessment strategy, in-class activity, or SoTL research finding—please consider submitting an abstract to one of the Teaching Hub poster sessions by August 15.

Please also encourage undergraduates who have completed independent work in philosophy this past academic year and undergraduates who are working on summer research projects in philosophy currently to submit an abstract to one of the Teaching Hub poster sessions by November 15.

For general information about the AAPT-APA Teaching Hub, please visit the AAPT website and the CTP webpage. For specific information about the Teaching Hub at the 2021 Pacific Division meeting in Portland, OR, please contact Cecilea Mun (cecileamun@icloud.com).

We look forward to receiving your proposals.

All the best,

David W. ConcepciĆ³n
Chair, APA Committee on the Teaching of Philosophy

P.S. Please note that all APA meeting participants are required to register for each meeting they attend.

DONALD TRUMP: ONE MORE EXAMPLE OF HOW DESTROYING THE U.S. CONSTITUTION IS THE REAL GOAL OF TRUMPIAN POLITICS.

Trump says he plans on making insurers cover pre-existing conditions — a protection which already exists under Obamacare.

During a press conference on Friday, President Trump said he planned on issuing an executive order to make insurance companies cover Americans with pre-existing health conditions. Many political journalists and commentators were quick to point out those protections already exist in law under the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare). In a bid to scrap Obamacare, the Trump administration is currently challenging the law in the Supreme Court- Twitter News.

Obamacare already makes insurers cover Americans with pre-existing conditions
"Insurance companies were prohibited from denying coverage to people with pre-existing conditions under the Affordable Care Act passed under former President Barack Obama, known as Obamacare, which the Trump administration has tried to scrap." — Bloomberg

The Trump administration has joined a lawsuit to dismantle Obamacare. "The Affordable Care Act already requires insurers to cover pre-existing conditions. The Trump administration is currently arguing in a case before the Supreme Court to strike down that very law — including its pre-existing condition protections." — AXIOS

DONALD TRUMP IS TRYING TO DISMANTLE THE ACA, WHICH ALREADY COVERS PRE-EXISTING CONDITIONS, SO HE CAN THEN ISSUE AN ORDER TO REINSTATE COVERAGE THAT HIS "REGIME" HAS CALLED UNCONSTITUTIONAL.

Dementia, Warning, Trump, Donald Trump

SO IN THE WORLD ACCORDING TO TRUMP:

- IF IT IS PASSED BY CONGRESS,
IT IS UNCONSTITUTIONAL.
- HOWEVER, IF TRUMP ISSUES AN
EXECUTIVE ORDER, IT IS LEGAL.

WHY NOT JUST END THE PRETENSE DONALD,
AND CALL YOURSELF DICTATOR-FOR-LIFE?

REMEMBERING TRUMPS DISGRACE: ARTICLES AND POSTS FROM HIS IMPEACHMENT. BREAKING DOWN THE MUELLER REPORT. THE ENEMY WITHIN...?

Hatred, Emotion, Rejection, Faces, Hate

Those of you who are long time readers, will recall my evaluation of the 2016 Presidential Election revealed that the Trump victory was due to Election Fraud in at least Six States. However, nothing was done to investigate the bogus numbers that handed DONALD TRUMP the White House. Why do I mention this? Read on.
You can find my articles on this subject on the WEBSITE;

The most disturbing actions involving the RUSSIAN GOVERNMENT, AND ITS AFFILIATED
INDIVIDUALS AND GROUPS, WENT FAR BEYOND:

- Spreading False Information and Innuendo.

- Hacking into Computers to Steal Information to aid the Trump Campaign.

-  Creating Bogus Political "Groups" on Social Media that were not created
by Americans, but Russian Agents working to ensure a Trump victory.
   etc...

While these are bad enough, the Mueller Report gives us a far more disturbing
look into RUSSIAN INTERFERENCE IN THE 2016 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION.

As an aid to understanding the magnitude of this assault on our country, the following
definition is essential:

WHAT IS THE GRU? ( FROM THE ARTICLE: "WHAT IS RUSSIAS GRU MILITARY INTELLIGENCE AGENY?" BY GUY FAULCONBRIDGE, FOR REUTERS)

What is the GRU?
Russia’s military intelligence service is commonly known by the Russian acronym GRU, which stands for the Main Intelligence Directorate. Its name was formally changed in 2010 to the Main Directorate (or just GU) of the general staff, but its old acronym - GRU - is still more widely used.
Its published aims are the supply of military intelligence to the Russian president and government. Additional aims include ensuring Russia’s military, economic and technological security.
The GRU answers directly to the chief of the general staff, Valery Gerasimov, and the Russian defense minister, Sergei Shoigu, each of whom are thought to have access to Russia’s portable nuclear briefcase.
WITH THAT OUT OF THE WAY, HERE ARE A FEW DIRECT
QUOTES TAKEN FROM THE TEXT OF MUELLER REPORT.

THESE QUOTES APPEAR UNDER THE HEADING:"Intrusions Targeting the Administration of U.S. Elections "
"...GRU officers also targeted individuals and entities involved in the administration of the elections. Victims included U.S. state and local entities, such as state boards of elections (SBOEs), secretaries of state, and county governments, as well as individuals who worked for those entities."

"...also targeted private technology firms responsible for manufacturing and administering election-related software and hardware, such as voter registration software and electronic polling stations."

"By at least the summer of 2016, GRU officers sought access to state and local computer networks by exploiting known software vulnerabilities on websites of state and local governmental entities."

.
..AND THERE ARE THOSE WHO ARGUE THAT RUSSIA IS OUR ALLY? IF THAT IS TRUE, I HATE TO SEE WHAT OUR
ENEMIES ARE UP TO.

TO BE CONTINUED...

Now Live: Debate Night! SETH MOULTON.

David,
Tonight is Debate Night!
Seth faced off today against his two primary opponents for the second time ahead of his September 1st primary for the Massachusetts’ 6th District in a conversation recorded on Zoom. It’s scheduled to be posted tonight at 7pm.
You can tune in with us to watch the debate with us here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCNazNGO0xUOdRfvvkEGrD4g
In the last debate, held on Sunday evening, Seth talked about delivering results for the residents of the Sixth District, standing up for racial justice, and providing support for struggling families and businesses. He made it crystal clear that he’s the leader that we need representing our district in Congress, based on his proven track record and his agenda for the future.
