THE 2016 ELECTION PT 1: WE MUST NEVER FORGET..

(THIS IS PART 1 OF A SERIES OF ARTICLES I WROTE SHORTLY AFTER THE 2016 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION. THE RESEARCH I DID CLEARLY INDICATED BOGUS RETURNS IN A NUMBER OF STATES, YET AN UNDESERVING DONALD TRUMP WAS HANDED THE KEYS TO THE WHITE HOUSE. WE HAVE BEEN PAYING FOR IT EVER SINCE.

IT MUST NOT HAPPEN AGAIN. IF WE CANNOT PROTECT THE SANCTITY OF
FREE AND HONEST ELECTIONS, THAN WE HAVE DONE MORE DAMAGE TO OUR
REPUBLIC THAN ANY FOREIGN POWER EVER COULD.

- DAVID.

Let me make one thing clear: I am not a Statistician/Mathematician. I try to stick to specific
principles when discussing TOPICS SUCH AS MORAL THEORY, POLITICS, THE LEGAL SYSTEM, RELIGION, AND THE SCIENTIFIC METHOD. USING THE DISCIPLINES OF LOGIC AND CRITICAL THINKING, I TRY TO AVOID USING NUMBERS AND PERCENTAGES TO MAKE A POINT. I BELIEVE THAT CONFLICTS ARISING IN THESE SUBJECTS SHOULD NEVER BE DECIDED ON THE NUMBER OF INDIVIDUALS WHO HAPPEN TO FALL ON ONE SIDE OF AN ISSUE.  I USE NUMBERS TO SUPPORT AN OPINION, NOT MAKE ONE.

However, the Election Totals have, for me, raised a serious red flag. These Numbers make little sense, and a COMPREHENSIVE STUDY/INVESTIGATION NEEDS TO BE DONE. NOW.

Here is how I came to this opinion;

Numbers FOR MICHIGAN, PENNSYLVANIA, AND WISCONSIN-  The 2012, 2016 Presidential Elections.

IN 2016 HILLARY CLINTON WON THE TOTAL POPULAR VOTE BY ABOUT 3 MILLION VOTES, AND PERCENT OF TOTAL. 48.1%- 46%. THE MEDIA REPORTS THESE NUMBERS FREQUENTLY. HOWEVER, HERE ARE SOME NUMBERS THAT ARE RARELY MENTIONED, IF AT ALL.

2008- Winner: BARACK OBAMA.
NUMBERS;52.9% of the Vote. Total Votes-  69,498,516. 365 Electoral Votes.Carried-28 States+DC.

Opponent- JOHN MCCAIN.
NUMBERS;45.7%. of the Vote. Total Votes- 59,948,323. 173 Electoral Votes.Carried-22 States.

2012- Winner:  BARACK OBAMA.
NUMBERS;51.1% of the Vote. Total Votes- 65,915,795. 332 Electoral Votes.Carried-26 States+DC.

Opponent- MITT ROMNEY.
NUMBERS; 47.2% of the Vote.  Total Votes- 60,933,504. 206 Electoral Votes.Carried- 24 States.

2016- Winner: DONALD TRUMP.
NUMBERS;46% of Vote.  Total Votes-  62,979,636.  306 Electoral Votes. Carried.- 30 States.

Opponent- HILLARY CLINTON.
NUMBERS;48.1% of Vote.  Total Votes- 65,844, 610. 232 Electoral Votes.- 20 States+DC.

OBSERVATION 1- IN TERMS OF PERCENT OF VOTE, MITT ROMNEY HAD A HIGHER
PERCENT THAN DONALD TRUMP. 47.2% to 46%.

OBSERVATION 2-  BARACK OBAMA % OF TOTAL VOTES IN 2008 AND 2012 WAS OVER 50%, (52.9%, 51.1%), YET DONALD TRUMP, WITH 46%, CARRIED MORE STATES (30) THAN BARACK OBAMA DID IN EITHER ELECTION. (28,26).

OBSERVATION 3.
WISCONSIN- IN 2012, A TOTAL OF 3,028,651 VOTES WERE CAST FOR BOTH THE DEMOCRATIC AND REPUBLICAN PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES. IN 2016 THAT NUMBER
REDUCED TO 2,787,820, OR -240,831.

WHILE THE REPUBLICAN NUMBERS WERE VERY CLOSE
2012 TOTAL- 1,407,966 TO 2016-1,405,289 FOR A TOTAL REDUCTION OF 2,677 VOTES.

THE DEMOCRATS TOTALS WERE- 2012 TOTAL- 1,620,985 TO 2016 TOTAL- 1,382,536
OR A REDUCTION OF 238,449.

OBSERVATION 4.
PENNSYLVANIA- 2012 ELECTION- TOTAL DEMOCRATIC/REPUBLICAN VOTES- 5,670,708.
2016 TOTAL- 5,897,174. A DIFFERENCE OF +226,466.
DEMOCRATS- 2012 TOTAL VOTES: 2,990,274 2016 TOTAL VOTES- 2,926,441= LOSS OF 63,833.
REPUBLICANS- 2012 TOTAL VOTES- 2,680,434 2016 TOTAL VOTES- 2,970,733= +290,299.

OBSERVATION 5.
MICHIGAN- 2012 TOTAL DEM/REP. VOTES: 4,679,825.
BREAKDOWN- 2,564,569 DEMOCRAT, 2,115,256 REPUBLICAN.

MICHIGAN- 2016 TOTAL DEM/REP. VOTES- 4,548,382.
BREAKDOWN- REPUBLICANS- 2,279,543
                             DEMOCRATS- 2,268,839
A REDUCTION OF 131,443 TOTAL VOTES BETWEEN 2012 AND 2016.

DEMOCRATS- LOST 295,730 VOTES BETWEEN 2012 AND 2016.
REPUBLICANS- GAINED 164,287.

REMEMBER, THESE DRAMATIC CHANGES IN ALL THREE STATES OCCURRED FOR A REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE WHOSE % OF TOTAL VOTES NATIONWIDE WAS LESS THAN
HIS PREDECESSOR. FURTHER, THE NUMBER OF VOTERS CASTING THEIR BALLOTS FOR EITHER THE DEMOCRATS OR REPUBLICANS WENT DOWN IN MICHIGAN AND WISCONSIN BETWEEN 2012 AND 2016.

Long email about gerrymandering. pls read - it’s important. MARSHALL COHEN.

DAVID — when the Supreme Court upheld partisan gerrymandering, we knew it wouldn’t take long for the GOP to seize the moment and further manipulate maps, undermine the will of voters, and block fair districts.

And now leaked audio recordings reveal that the right-wing front group ALEC is training Republican lawmakers on how to get away with gerrymandering their districts! It’s clear self-serving Republicans are manipulating the system for personal gain.

The GOP’s partisan gerrymandering isn’t simply unfair, it’s a tactic used to systematically silence millions of voters and lock Democrats out of office nationwide. We cannot let them succeed. That’s why our Unrig the Map program is leading the charge to fight back. But we urgently need your help to get 15,000 more signatures nationwide. Will you join me and add your name to end partisan gerrymandering?

The Washington Post reports that the court’s 5-to-4 decision “brings new urgency to [the] Democratic fight to win state seats.”

That’s absolutely right. With the 2020 census right around the corner, Democratic governors are now the strongest line of defense against Republican gerrymandering.

SIGN ON: We need 286 signatures from 02771 to end partisan gerrymandering!
As the Political Director at the DGA, I work day in and day out to make sure our campaigns are prepared to take on their Republican opponents and have the resources they need to win.

Last cycle, we won SEVEN redistricting targets with our Unrig the Map program! Now we’re launching an all-out offensive to put Democratic governors in charge in five key states ahead of the 2020 census and redistricting. And three of these races are this year!

If we can win these races and secure fair maps, Democrats can deal a crushing blow to Trump’s agenda. But everything depends on what we do right now.
Please, speak out before it’s too late: Add your name to put a stop to partisan gerrymandering!

Thank you for taking action on this critical issue.

MUST-PASS PARKS FUNDING BILL:

The Land and Water Conservation Fund has supported parks in nearly every county in the U.S. The House just introduced a bill that would secure permanent funding for this critical program. We need to make sure we have the votes to pass this in the House.

URGENT: Lawmakers just introduced a critical bill that would secure $900 million in funding for vital park projects in communities throughout the U.S. Tell your representative to fund our parks »

Parks across our country are severely underfunded, DAVID. And without adequate support, our protected places will be vulnerable to the impacts of development and communities will lack access to green spaces. But we have a chance to fix that with a program called the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF).

LWCF has set aside and protected community spaces in nearly every county in the U.S., making it one of the most successful and accessible parks programs in America. However, this program is critically underfunded, which limits our ability to protect green spaces across the country. With full funding of $900 million, LWCF would be able to expand its legacy of having supported over 41,000 state and local park projects throughout the U.S.

Earlier this year, LCV and supporters like you successfully pushed Congress to pass a permanent reauthorization of LWCF, which will allow the program to exist in perpetuity. That was a big victory, but the next step is to address the fact that LWCF doesn't have the budget it needs to take care of all of the green spaces that need help — and that's where you come in.

There's a solution in Congress to solve this problem. Representative Van Drew introduced the Land and Water Conservation Fund Permanent Funding Act (H.R.3195), which would grant full funding for the program every single year. LCV is building a movement to pass this legislation and fully fund LWCF — can we count on you to join us?

We need to flood offices with support for our public lands to get this bill over the finish line. Sign our petition and tell Congress to vote YES to fund our lands »

LWCF is so important to families across the country because this program protects spaces in our communities that give people — regardless of their income or level of ability — places to play and build community. From local baseball fields to iconic parks like the Grand Canyon, LWCF has given children safe spaces to play, families open areas to relax, and communities outdoor spaces to thrive. These green spaces are worth fighting for.

We need to get an overwhelming majority of the House on the record in favor of this bill. If we meet that goal, it means that there's no opportunity for anti-environment legislators to add in harmful amendments that could sink the entire bill.

With the new pro-environment House ready and willing to make protecting our environment a priority, now is the perfect moment to get this bill across the finish line. We CAN save America's best parks program, but only if we all speak out together. Will you raise your voice today?

It will only take one minute for you to help secure full funding for LWCF. Contact your representative now »

We can't let this opportunity to fund our best parks program pass us by — please act now to fund LWCF today, DAVID.

Thank you for fighting for our parks.
