Planned Parenthood Advocacy Fund of Massachusetts I’ve been thinking about this election for a long time, and now it is just 12 days away. I thought about it when I stood in a sea of pink hats on the Boston Common on that bright winter day. I thought about it every single time this administration tried to repeal or gut the Affordable Care Act. I thought about it when politicians in the U.S. Senate ignored several allegations of sexual assault and confirmed Brett Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court. And I thought about it this past weekend after learning the Trump administration was concocting plans to strip the transgender community of their basic dignity by erasing them under federal law.   I thought about this moment so many times. And now this moment is almost here – Election Day is approaching, and we need to make the most of it. Key races are close and too many people don’t have a plan to vote, don’t know who represents them, or feel their vote simply doesn’t matter. It’s up to us to remind voters that their voice is critical. We can’t elect strong reproductive rights advocates to the Massachusetts State House without each and every one of them. 2008-2016.
A PROGRESSIVE LEGACY.

Over the last Eight Years we have seen Progressive Democrats support
an Economic Policy that included;

-  An increase in the Federal Minimum Wage of 7.25/ hr.
Which was opposed, and killed, by Congressional Republicans.
( However, on the State Level, there are examples of Minimum Wage
Guidelines that the Republican Party couldn't stop).

-  Expanding the Time Period for receiving Unemployment Benefits, to
   Temporarily Relieve Financial Distress associated with Job loss.

-  Financial Relief for crippling costs incurred through Higher Education.

-  Consumer Laws protecting Americans from predatory practices by
    Dishonest Marketers.

    Of course, this list does not include the AFFORDABLE CARE ACT,
    which resulted in Millions of Americans obtaining Medical Care
    Insurance that would not result in Crippling Debt, or a Dramatic
    Decrease in Their Quality of Life.

The Republicans, besides attempting to stop all of the above, stuck with
the old "TRICKLE DOWN THEORY" OF ECONOMICS. Let's see what
that includes:

TAX BREAK INCENTIVES, WHICH ALLOWS THE RICHEST AMERICANS
TO RETAIN MORE OF THEIR WEALTH, WITH THE HOPE THAT THEY WILL
 PUMP THAT MONEY BACK INTO THE ECONOMY.

TO RECEIVE THIS INCENTIVE, ARE THEY
REQUIRED TO:

-  INVEST IN SPECIFIC INDUSTRIES THAT ARE STRUGGLING?- NO.

-  FINANCIALLY SUPPORT CORPORATIONS WHO PROVIDE A LIVING
   WAGE, OR A MEDICAL PLAN FOR THEIR EMPLOYEES?- NO.

-  ONLY SUPPORT AMERICAN BUSINESSES, INSTEAD OF TAKING THE
    FINANCIAL WINDFALL OVERSEAS?-  NO.

THESE TAX BREAKS ARE BASED ON THE "HOPE" THAT THEY WILL BE USED
TO BENEFIT THE COUNTRY AS A WHOLE.

However, don't worry. If these incentives are used unwisely, and the MONEY DISAPPEARS,
ALL IS NOT LOST. CORPORATIONS FORMED ARE PLACED INTO BANKRUPTCY,
MEANING THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ARE FOOTING THE BILL FOR POOR MONEY
MANAGEMENT.  AS FOR THE WEALTHY INDIVIDUALS WHO RECEIVED THE
TAX BREAK BENEFITS, AND LOST THE MONEY? THEY WILL JUST DECLARE THESE
LOSSES ON THEIR INDIVIDUAL TAX RETURNS, AND BASICALLY GET IT ALL BACK.

THE REPUBLICANS- WHO ARE THEY FIGHTING FOR AGAIN?

WHAT PROGRESSIVES MUST LEARN: EDUCATE YOURSELF, PAY ATTENTION. AND SCRUTINIZE ALL ELECTION RESULTS.

So what should Progressives, Liberals , and other Groups that believe Government has a Moral Responsibility to Aid those in need, do to Change the Opinions of those who Vote Against them?

#1-  Acknowledge that the Selfish, Self-Centered, and Dishonest also Vote, so Quit trying to Win over everyone through Fear of Confrontation.

#2-  Stop Allowing Republicans and Ultra Right Wing Candidates to Hijack the Moral High Ground, when its Media Campaign is Transparent, and Easily Refuted.   

#3-  By the Almost Incredible Inability to Stand Up to the Outright Lies and Misrepresentations that
are thrown around come Election Time, regarding Programs that Help the Poor and Disadvantaged.

#4-  When Statistics are Trotted Out about possible Fraudulent Activities in Social Programs, Research and Demand the Sources for such Claims, and Contrast Them with them with  Public Funds Lost Through; 

-  Corporate Bailouts. 

-  Tax Breaks that do not, or are not required

to Benefit the Taxpayer.

-  Funds Acquired Through Government Contracts,

that are Shifted to Foreign Markets with no Positive

Affects on the U.S. Economy.

-  Refusing to Raise Wages to a Minimal Level, which

Encourages Self- Sufficiency, and Decreases the 

Need for Government Aid.

... Other Policies that Push an Agenda that

Benefits a Narrow Set of American Citizens.  

#5-  Point Out to Voters, who have Benefited from 

Programs Instituted by the Progressive Agenda, that

what has been Won by Voting, can be Lost or Unfunded

by Not Voting.

MOST IMPORTANT:

MAKE SURE THAT ELECTIONS, AT ANY LEVEL, ARE SCRUTINIZED CAREFULLY FOR FRAUD. DO NOT TAKE THE RESULTS AT FACE VALUE, BECAUSE EVEN THE LOSERS AT THE POLLS MAY NOT HAVE THE FORTITUDE OR INCLINATION TO CHALLENGE  OUTCOMES THAT ARE FIXED. THAT IS WHAT THE 2016 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION HAS TAUGHT US.

WHAT IS STRIKE 3 GOING TO BE?

- YOU HANDED THE REPUBLICANS THE SUPREME COURT WITHOUT A FIGHT.

- YOU HANDED THE REPUBLICANS THE WHITE 
HOUSE WITHOUT A FIGHT.
