Riding the storm out...JENNIFER BOYSKO, Chair of Run Everywhere.

David,

Let’s be honest: These days, it is easy to become overwhelmed by the negative headlines.
When he isn’t attacking the media for reporting his many failures, the worst U.S. president in history repeatedly blames Democrats for them.

It’s important to remind ourselves that the opposite is usually true. From affordable health care to renewable energy to LGBT rights, Democrats have led the way.

Republicans control the White House, the Supreme Court, and Congress. And what do they have to show for it? A gigantic debt balloon and tax breaks for billionaires.

Meanwhile, Virginia infused the staid old House of Delegates with progressive blood and almost overnight brought affordable health care to 400,000 low income residents.

Thank you for giving us the opportunity,
Jennifer Boysko
Finance Chair, Virginia Democratic House Caucus
Chair of Run Everywhere

Knock-knock. CONGRESSIONAL CANDIDATE KEN HARBAUGH.

We are out every weekend listening to our neighbors, David. This is what we are hearing:

“I talked to a voter last weekend. She is working three jobs just to keep up with her health care costs. She told me no one had ever come to the door before to listen to what her family needed. She took a Ken Harbaugh flyer and said ‘I’ll see you in November.’” -- Tom, Lorain county

“I talked to a woman who was frustrated by our current representative. ‘Where is he?’ she asked. ‘Why isn’t HE out here listening to us?’ She thanked us for stopping by and promised to learn more about Ken Harbaugh.” -- Lauren, Stark county

“We talked to an undecided voter recently. After our conversation, he said because we knocked on his door and listened to what he had to say, he would help spread the word about Ken Harbaugh. Knocking on doors works.”-- Jared, Ashland county

When we show up where people live, they show up for us on Election Day.

But we are only just getting started. We need to talk to thousands of voters to see this thing through.

Volunteer to comment or chair at the 2019 Pacific Division meeting.

American Philosophical Association
Dear DAVID,

The APA Pacific Division invites volunteers to chair sessions or comment on papers at its annual meeting. Volunteering is a significant route onto the program and we endeavor to find spots for those who wish to attend the meeting.

The 2019 meeting will be held April 17–20 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, at the Westin Bayshore.

Submitting a paper is no obstacle to volunteering: if your paper is accepted, you are released from any chairing or commenting obligations.

To volunteer, please complete a volunteer form. You’ll be asked to supply your name, affiliation, email address, and areas of interest. If you’ve volunteered in the past, please be sure to select the “renewals” option.

Please note that all program participants, including presenters, chairs, and commentators, must register for the meeting.

The program for the Pacific meeting will be finalized by October 14. If your offer to volunteer has not been adopted by the program committee by that time, we thank you and hope that you will volunteer again in future years.
Thank you,

Becko Copenhaver
Pacific Division Secretary-Treasurer
