The Recent Spike in Measles Outbreaks is Tragic, and not just for the Reasons you may think.  It is just the Latest Result of the Anti- Science Mindset, RESULTING IN NEEDLESS HARM TO THE HEALTH AND WELFARE OF NOT JUST THE AMERICAN PEOPLE, BUT HUMANITY IN GENERAL.

Since I cover Medical Scams elsewhere on this Website, I won't get into the MISINFORMATION, LACK OF UNDERSTANDING ABOUT HOW THE SCIENTIFIC METHOD WORKS, AND THE ACCEPTANCE OF FLAGRANTLY BOGUS INFORMATION THAT LEADS SOME PEOPLE TO RESIST VACCINATIONS FOR THEIR CHILDREN.  The Real Problem is not just the Quality of Some of the Data being pushed as VALID SCIENCE, BUT WHERE IT CAN BE FOUND.

With the Limited Number of Outlets Available, the Determination to get things Right, and Avoiding Embarrassing News Stories that supplied Incorrect Data, was Strong.  No one wanted to be FACE OF FAILURE.  Holding Employees and Sources Accountable for Improper, Invalid, or Incorrect Information was a sign of Integrity and Trust.

The Advent of Radio and Television made the YELLOW JOURNALISM practiced in the PRINT MEDIA less APPEALING, FOR INFORMATION COULD BE TRANSFERRED IN A MATTER OF MINUTES, TO AN AUDIENCE MUCH LARGER THAN EVER BEFORE.

SCHLOCK OR TABLOID JOURNALISM was relegated to MAGAZINES that inhabited the Check-Out Line in the Supermarket, or NICHE PUBLICATIONS THAT MIXED SCIENCE- FICTION, FANTASY, AND SOME RUDIMENTARY SCIENCE TOGETHER IN ONE MONTHLY OR BI-MONTHLY ISSUE.

A Few shows on Television and Radio, such as;  IN SEARCH OF..., THATS INCREDIBLE, BELIEVE IT OR NOT etc., adopted the same format, but were never given any REAL CREDIBILITY.  They were Mindless Diversions that were not taken seriously.

What is perhaps the Most Incredible part of Discussing the Topic of Evil, and its Definition, Causes, and Sources is the way Individuals try to Justify Actions that They have Previously Maintained as EVIL OR IMMORAL, TO EXPLAIN THEIR BEHAVIOR THAT MAY BE SANCTIONED BY SOCIETY, FAMILY, OR FRIENDS.

Many of us would consider these EXPLANATIONS TO MITIGATE THE DEGREE OF RESPONSIBILITY ONE HAS FOR THEIR ACTIONS, JUST EXCUSES TO AVOID PUNISHMENT and REMAIN IN GOOD STANDING AMONG ANY GROUPS THEY ARE CONSIDERED A MEMBER OF. 

This Leaves us with the following Dilemmas;

-  Did The Individuals Committing the Acts, actually believe that these Behaviors were EVIL OR IMMORAL from the BEGINNING, OR WERE THEY JUST REPEATING WHAT WAS EXPECTED OF THEM TO AVOID CONFRONTATION, AND REMAIN A WELCOME MEMBER OF THE GROUP.

-  When Social Attitudes, Legal Judgments, or Even a New Job make Certain Behaviors Unpopular and/or Illegal, how are we to Measure the Truthfulness or Sincerity of the Individual Who Now makes a Complete Turn Around, and Espouses Opinions that are the Exact Opposite of Those They Expressed in the Past.

Now some of you may be saying; "I KNOW SOMEONE WHO IS JUST LIKE THAT, BUT I'VE SEEN THEM CRY.  THEY PLAY AND DOTE ON THEIR CHILDREN, AND THEY SEEM TO BE A REAL ASSET TO THEIR EMPLOYER.  SO I GUESS THEY'RE NOT TRUE SOCIOPATHS."

Here is a Partial List of Traits that have been Indicative of THE SOCIOPATH.

• Uses others as tools to satisfy individual desires.
• Lacks remorse or empathy for the pain and suffering they cause to others.
• Has a Grandiose, Inflated self-image that makes them feel like they are the center of the universe.
• Enjoys Deceiving and Manipulating people, often for no other reason then a sense of power.
• Positive words such as Dignity, Honor and Duty or negative words such as Cruelty, Prejudice and Suffer are meaningless. They represent concepts foreign to the Sociopath.

So what can you do if someone seems to Possess One, Two, or a Few of the Traits that are ASSOCIATED WITH THE SOCIOPATH, BUT DOES NOT EXHIBIT

OTHER TELL TALE BEHAVIORS.

There are other RECOGNIZED PERSONALITY DISORDERS, THAT OFTEN EXHIBIT SOME OF THE BEHAVIORAL TRAITS OF THE SOCIOPATH.

NARCISSISM.

SYMPTOMS INCLUDE:

-  EXCESSIVE BELIEF IN YOUR OWN IMPORTANCE.

-  COME ACROSS AS EXTREMELY CONCEITED

AND PRETENTIOUS.

-  A BELIEF THAT YOU DESERVE SPECIAL TREATMENT,

OR REWARDS, JUST BECAUSE OF WHO YOU ARE, NOT

FOR WHAT YOU HAVE ACCOMPLISHED.

-  REACT WITH AN UNREASONABLE DEGREE OF ANGER,

OR VERY CONFRONTATIONAL, IF YOU DO NOT GET WHAT 

YOU WANT.

-  DO NOT TAKE CRITICISM WELL, NO MATTER HOW IT IS

OFFERED, OR IN WHAT CIRCUMSTANCES.

-  BEHAVIOR OFTEN MASKS FEELINGS OF INFERIORITY,

WHICH ACCOUNTS FOR EMOTIONAL OUTBURSTS OF RAGE

AGAINST THOSE WHO CRITICIZE YOU.

As you can see, THE NARCISSIST IS VERY QUICK TO PLAY THE 

"VICTIM," AND LIKE THE SOCIOPATH, BELIEVE IN THEIR OWN

SUPERIORITY.

As the Controversy Continues, with the REPUBLICAN SENATE LEADERSHIP continuing its UNCONSTITUTIONAL STANCE NOT TO MEET WITH ANYONE NOMINATED BY PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA TO FILL THE VACANCY ON THE U.S. SUPREME COURT, THE ACTUAL ROOTS OF THE PROBLEM ARE BEING IGNORED.

LETS LOOK AT THE REPUBLICAN PARTY LEADERSHIP, AND SOME OF THE OPINIONS AND STANCES ON ISSUES IN THE RECENT PAST. THE FOLLOWING WERE PROMOTED IN THEIR NATIONAL AGENDA.

-  THE PRESIDENTS ECONOMIC POLICIES WOULD NOT WORK IN 

   SOLVING THE 2008 FINANCIAL CRISIS.

-  AFFORDABLE CARE ACT WOULD RESULT IN RUNAWAY UNEMPLOYMENT.

-  THAT SAME-SEX MARRIAGE WOULD DESTROY THE INSTITUTION.

-  IRAN NUCLEAR TREATY WOULD FAIL MISERABLY.

-  THAT THE STATES DON'T WANT TO RAISE THE MINIMUM WAGE.*(SEE BELOW).

These Were the Scare Tactics Pressuring all Americans to Abandon any Desire for Compromise, attempting to Sabotage this Countries Future.  Fortunately, enough Voters and Candidates realized the Danger. While many PROGRESSIVES see the REPUBLICAN LEADERSHIP FOR WHAT THEY ARE: 

SELF-CENTERED OPPORTUNISTS WHO DERIVE MOST OF THEIR SUPPORT

FROM THE ULTRA-CONSERVATIVE WING OF THE PARTY. YOU KNOW, THE PRIMARY VOTERS WHO HAVE MADE DONALD TRUMP THEIR RUN AWAY CHOICE FOR PRESIDENT.

REMEMBER, THEY WERE ELECTED TO REPRESENT ONE STATE. THE ONLY VOICES THEY CARE ABOUT ARE THEIR CONSTITUENTS, SO THE FATE OF THE REST OF THE COUNTRY MEANS NOTHING TO THEM.

IF THAT STATE DECIDES THAT THEIR REPRESENTATIVES IN CONGRESS SHOULD BE ANTI- LABOR, AGAINST RELIGIOUS FREEDOM, RACIST, MISOGYNIST etc., WE AS A COUNTRY ARE STUCK WITH THEM YEAR IN AND YEAR OUT. GIVEN TIME, THEY EVENTUALLY RISE TO LEADERSHIP ROLES IN THE HOUSE AND SENATE. WHY IS THAT? 

LONGEVITY, NOT CAPABILITY,

OFTEN COUNTS FOR MORE.

ALLEGIANCE TO THEIR BENEFACTORS,

BRINGS THEM MONEY AND POWER.

TIME IN OFFICE MATTERS MORE,

IN SOME CASES, THAN WHAT YOU DO IN IT.

*Many States realized that the Republican Leadership of the House and Senate, would never support Raising the Federal Minimum Wage.  So in the past few yearsThey have Taken it upon Themselves to do so.

These 29 States: Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Vermont, Washington,  West Virginia and Washington D.C, now have a MINIMUM WAGE HIGHER THAN THE FEDERAL LEVEL.

If there is one thing that is even Scarier than the U.S. SENATES LEADERSHIP REFUSING TO MEET WITH THE PRESIDENTS NOMINEE, AND NOT EVEN DISCUSSING IT IN COMMITTEE, IS THE POWER THAT IS BEING HANDED TO ONE OR TWO POWER HUNGRY POLITICIANS.

CONSIDER THIS.

NOT ONLY IS THE PRESIDENTS CONSTITUTIONAL OBLIGATION AND DUTY TO SELECT AND NOMINATE A SUCCESSOR TO THE COURT BEING IGNORED, BUT THE REPUBLICAN PARTY WANTS THE FUTURE OF OUR JUDICIAL SYSTEM TO BE PLACED IN THE HANDS OF 1-2 SENATORS. 

THE SENATE LEADERSHIP WAS ELECTED TO REPRESENT THEIR HOME STATES. HOWEVER, THIS POLICY ALLOWS THEM TO IGNORE THOSE REPRESENTING THE OTHER 48 STATES, BY DENYING SENATORS FROM BOTH PARTIES THE OPPORTUNITY TO EVALUATE AND VOTE ON THE SELECTED PRESIDENTIAL NOMINEE.  THE ONLY OPINION THEY CARE ABOUT, AND WILL ACT ON, IS THEIR OWN. 

ANY SENATOR THAT ALLOWS THIS TO GO UNCHALLENGED, HAS BETRAYED THEIR CONSTITUENTS IN FAVOR OF A DICTATORIAL POLICY THAT GRANTS OTHER STATES A POWER THEY HAVE NOT EARNED, AND DO NOT DESERVE. (THROUGH THE ELECTORAL PROCESS). 

THIS IS A CLEAR ABUSE OF POWER, AND AN UNCONSTITUTIONAL ATTEMPT TO BYPASS THE ROLE OF THE EXECUTIVE BRANCH IN THE SELECTION PROCESS.

This is the part of the U.S. CONSTITUTION THAT DIRECTLY AFFECTS HOW FUTURE APPOINTEES FOR CERTAIN GOVERNMENT POSITIONS ARE TO BE NOMINATED, AND APPROVED OR DISAPPROVED, FOR SAID POSITIONS.

There is no NEED FOR CONTROVERSY. THIS IS A DIRECT AND UNCOMPLICATED GUIDELINE, EXPLAINING HOW THE  PROCESS IS TO WORK. To Turn this into A POLITICAL DISCUSSION ABOUT WHICH TYPE OF INDIVIDUAL, WITH SPECIFIC BELIEFS, OPINIONS, AND A CERTAIN BACKGROUND SHOULD BE NOMINATED AND APPOINTED, MISSES THE POINT COMPLETELY.  The Who and Why don't Matter.

ONLY THE HOW.

The President of United States has the POWER, OR RESPONSIBILITY TO SELECT A NOMINEE, And No One Else, because it is a FUNCTION OF THE EXECUTIVE BRANCH OF THE GOVERNMENT.

Once this Done, the PROCESS MOVES ON TO THE SECOND STEP.

THIS STEP, "...Advice and Consent of the Senate,...."  

Is Very Specific, and REFERS TO THE "SENATE" NOT AS A SINGLE INDIVIDUAL, OR A SELECT GROUP OF INDIVIDUALS, BUT AS A "BODY." THIS MEANS NO ONE SENATOR, OR SENATORS, HAS THE POWER TO DISREGARD WHAT ARE CLEARLY WRITTEN INSTRUCTIONS, WHICH OBLIGATE THE SENATE TO ACT AS ONE FOR "...ADVICE AND CONSENT..." 

FOR ANY SENATOR(S) TO SAY THAT THEY HAVE THE RIGHT OR POWER, TO PREVENT THE "BODY OF THE SENATE" FROM FULFILLING ITS CONSTITUTIONAL RESPONSIBILITY BY SAYING "WE JUST WON'T MEET TO CONSIDER THE NOMINATION", IS GIVING THEMSELVES A POWER THAT IS NON-EXISTENT, AND IS CLEARLY UNCONSTITUTIONAL.

LOGIC. THE FALLACY OF ANSWERING THE UNASKED QUESTION. #1.

This could be considered a form of the FALLACY OF MISDIRECTION, BUT IS OFTEN USED TO ATTACK THOSE WHO EXPOSE, OR REVEAL THE WEAKNESSES THAT ARE PRESENT IN THE POSITION TAKEN BY THE INDIVIDUAL WHO IS BEING INTERVIEWED, QUESTIONED, OR DEBATED.

To illustrate this particular FALLACY, let us create an example from Politics:

"Mr. Candidate, your Opponent says that the Economic Policies that are part of your Campaign Platform will lead to Increased Taxation on the Middle Class, while allowing increased Tax Breaks for the Wealthiest 2%. Further, that your opposition to an increase in the Minimum Wage will drive even more Families into Poverty, Due to Recent Changes in the Consumer Price Index. How do you Respond?"

Answer- "It is Well Known that my Opponents Economic Policies are Anti- Business, and will lead to Many Corporations Seeking to move Operations to other Countries. It is this Attitude, that has made Corporate America Very Hesitant to back his Candidacy. We must find more ways to encourage the Private Sector to Invest More Capitol into New and Expanding Technologies."

How about this one from the World of Finance.

"You claim that your Business Model will create great profits for all Investors, but your Critics say that the Bottom Line Depends upon Recruiting New Individuals to Sign Up, so that Their Membership will inject New Money into a Fund to pay off the Older Investors. Is this so?"

Answer-  "When I first started my Company, attracting Initial Investors was Tough, because very few believed in my vision. However, for the Few who were Far-Sighted enough, an Investment of a Few Thousand Dollars has paid off more than Ten Fold. Don't Talk to my Critics, listen to Those who were here on the ground floor."

the Answer Often:

-  HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ANYTHING THAT WAS ASKED.

-  IS MEANINGLESS, BECAUSE IT IGNORES THE SUBJECT

Is a Foundation for many BASELESS, UNPROVEN, IRRATIONAL, DECEPTIVE AND ULTIMATELY DESTRUCTIVE LINES OF THOUGHT. THE FACT IT IS STILL USED SO EFFECTIVELY SAYS A GREAT ABOUT THE LACK OF EDUCATION IN THE DISCIPLINE OF LOGIC, THAT STILL UNDERMINES THE INTELLECTUAL DEVELOPMENT AND PROGRESS THAT SOCIETY NEEDS FOR ITS MEMBERS TO MAKE TRULY INFORMED AND WELL THOUGHT OUT DECISIONS, ABOUT HOW BEST TO IMPROVE THE POLITICAL SYSTEM.

HERE ARE A FEW EXAMPLES:

"WE MUST BE A NATION THAT STANDS UP TO OUR ENEMIES."

"RESTRICTING RELIGIOUS BELIEFS WILL DESTROY THIS COUNTRY."

"FREE SPEECH MUST NEVER BE DENIED TO ANYONE, OR WE WILL

FIND OURSELVES LIVING UNDER A TOTALITARIAN GOVERNMENT."

Do some of These Sound Familiar?  Look at Them Carefully, what can you Conclude, or Even Reasonably Infer from anything Contained within the Words? 

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

UNLIKE THE:

THE UNSUPPORTED CONCLUSION/BASELESS ASSERTION.

(WHERE CATEGORIES LIKE THE ECONOMY, FOREIGN POLICY, THE 

CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM etc, ARE REFERENCED, OFTEN INACCURATELY 

AND WITH NO SPECIFIC INFORMATION...

THE VAGUE/UNDEFINED MESSAGE.

THERE ARE NO PARTICULAR AREAS OF GOVERNMENT, SOCIETY, OR 

THE POLITICAL SYSTEM THAT ARE MENTIONED AT ALL.

THERE IS NO REFERENCE, IN ANY WAY, TO A SPECIFIC CATEGORY OR AREA THAT MIGHT AID OTHERS IN RESEARCHING FOR ANY FACTUAL DATA THAT WOULD SUPPORT SUCH GENERIC STATEMENTS.

THE SECRET OF THE SUCCESS FOUND WHEN POLITICIANS USE THE 

THE VAGUE/UNDEFINED MESSAGE, IS THAT THE LACK OF CONTEXT 

LEAVES OPEN POSSIBLE IMPLICATIONS THAT ARE ONLY RESTRICTED 

BY THE LEVEL OF IMAGINATION, PARANOIA,OR PERSONAL PREJUDICES

THAT EXIST INSIDE THE MIND OF THE LISTENER.

LOGIC. THE NEED TO EDUCATE, AND MAKE IT THE ENEMY OF IRRATIONAL, SELF-CENTERED, AND PSEUDO-SCIENTIFIC THOUGHT. PT 3.

ANY STATEMENT, PHRASE,OR DECLARATION THAT IMPLIES

AN ETHICAL\MORAL, LEGAL, SOCIAL OR ECONOMIC JUDGMENT

THAT HAS NO  PROPER FOUNDATION THAT CAN WITHSTAND 

COMPREHENSIVE RATIONAL OR CRITICAL ANALYSIS.

LET US LOOK AT A FEW EXAMPLES:

"WE ARE WEAK AS A NATION, OUR FOREIGN POLICY DOESN'T SCARE 

OUR ENEMIES."

"IF WE HAVE GUN CONTROL, ONLY THE CRIMINALS WILL HAVE THEM."

AS YOU SEE WITH THE ABOVE EXAMPLES, THEY ARE SIMPLISTIC PHRASES THAT USUALLY LACK;

-  SPECIFIC STATISTICS, AND/OR COMPARISONS WITH PAST DATA.

-  CONTEXT, OR JUSTIFICATION FOR THEIR USAGE IN SOME INSTANCES,

   AND NOT IN OTHERS.

-  AN EXPLANATION FOR THE USAGE OF INFLAMMATORY WORDS THAT CAN BE DEFINED AND USED SO AMBIGUOUSLY THAT THEY HAVE NO INTELLECTUAL VALUE, AND DO NOTHING TO EXPLAIN OR DEFINE ANY OPINION OR POINT OF FACT THAT THE SPEAKER IS TRYING TO MAKE. 

 WORDS SUCH AS- "WEAK", "SCARE", "TROUBLE", "WELFARE", 

 "CONTROL"  "DANGER", "ENEMY", "VICTIM", AND ON AND ON...   

IF YOU ARE A POLITICIAN WITH NO REAL CONCEPTION, OR DESIRE, TO DO WHAT IS BEST FOR THE ELECTORATE AS A WHOLE, YOU TURN TO TIME WORN PHRASES LIKE THESE. SO WHY DO THEY WORK?

WE'LL GET INTO THAT IN THE FUTURE, BUT REMEMBER THE SALESMANS

MAXIM:  

         "IT'S NOT THE DEAL THE CUSTOMERS IS GETTING THAT IS                         

          IMPORTANT, IT IS THE DEAL THEY THINK THEY ARE GETTING."

         JUST SUBSTITUTE "CANDIDATE" FOR "DEAL", AND "VOTER" FOR
         "CUSTOMER."

What do I mean?  The next time you see any kind of Fitness Commercial or Photo Layout, pay attention to the number of Individuals that appear.  In fact, just Concentrate on the Number that are actually seen using the Product.

Next, what PERCENTAGE OF THESE INDIVIDUALS, ACTUALLY GIVES TESTIMONY ABOUT THE RESULTS THEY ACHIEVED WITH REGULAR AND PROPER USE OF THE PRODUCT.

THEN COUNT THE NUMBER OF THOSE WHO SAY ABSOLUTELY NOTHING IF IT IS A T.V. COMMERCIAL, OR WHO ARE NOT QUOTED IF THE ADVERTISEMENT IS IN PRINT.

Notice the Difference?  The Number of those who Reference Product Use, can be a Minority. However, even then, the point is not in the Numbers Alone.  IT IS THE FACT THAT SOME OF THE MODELS HAVE NEVER USED, TO ANY REAL EXTENT, THE PRODUCT BEING SOLD.  SO, TO HAVE THEM GIVE TESTIMONY ABOUT THE BENEFITS OF USING THE PRODUCT WOULD BE FRAUD.

Instead, they are put beside actually Consumers, to help sell the Product.  Yet, there is never any Differentiation between the Two, in any part of the Text.  Since they never give any type of ENDORSEMENT, IT IS NOT ILLEGAL.

However, the Prospective CLIENT, BUYER, OR USER does not realize this.  If one or more of the Models is using the Product, and saying how great it is, the ASSUMPTION IS THAT THEY ALL HAVE USED AND BENEFITED FROM IT.

That is the IMPLIED DECEPTION.  BEING SEEN AND NOT HEARD...

...AND IT WORKS.

LOGIC. WHY SHOULD WE STUDY LOGIC? PT 3. SEEING PEOPLE AND THINGS AS THEY REALLY ARE.

Are not considered to be Included in the Realm of THE SCIENTIFIC METHOD, (WHICH BY NECESSITY, INCLUDES THE RULES OF LOGIC), BECAUSE THE BELIEF IN THEIR TRUTH OR REALITY DOES NOT REQUIRE EVIDENCE, OR ANY KIND OF JUSTIFICATION THROUGH INTELLECTUAL INQUIRY.

If One Reads the CHRISTIAN BIBLE, THE TORAH, THE KORAN etc,, the Interpretation or Meaning is left to those who study the CONTENTS, IN THE CONTEXT OF HOW IT SHOULD BE APPLIED TO THEIR PARTICULAR FAITH.  SCIENCE, AND THE RULES OF LOGIC, DO NOT COME INTO THE DISCUSSION BECAUSE FAITH ALLOWS FOR CONTRADICTIONS, MIRACULOUS EVENTS, DIVINE INTERVENTION, AND OTHER CLAIMS, WHICH BY DEFINITION, DO NOT REQUIRE PROOF TO THOSE WHO ACCEPT THEIR REALITY.

IN OTHER WORDS:  IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO ARGUE THAT SOMETHING EXISTS OR DOESN'T EXIST, OR , AN EVENT OCCURRED OR DIDN'T OCCUR, IF THE BELIEVER WILL NOT ACCEPT ANY EXPLANATION, PROOF, OR CONCLUSION THAT CONTRADICTS THEIR FAITH.  THAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN:

THE NATURAL WORLD-  WHERE REALITY CAN BE EXAMINED, TESTED, STUDIED AND UNDERSTOOD BY THE HUMAN MIND.

THE SUPERNATURAL WORLD-  A HYPOTHETICAL REALM THAT EXISTS APART FROM THE PHYSICAL UNIVERSE, AND IS NOT BOUND BY ITS LAWS.

THERE IS NO INHERENT PROBLEM IN BELIEVING THAT EACH CAN EXIST, IF YOU THEM SET APART, AND UNDERSTAND THAT THEY CANNOT BE UNDERSTOOD PROPERLY, BY ATTEMPTING TO MEASURE THE EXISTENCE OF EACH BY PROPERTIES THAT CANNOT, BY DEFINITION, BE FOUND IN BOTH.

THE TRUE ENEMIES OF RELIGION AND SCIENCE, ARE THOSE WHO TRY TO FORCE THEIR "FAITH" ON OTHERS, BY CLAIMING THAT THE SCIENTIFIC METHOD "PROVES" THEIR BELIEF SYSTEM.

HOWEVER, IT WON'T WORK.  YOU CAN'T BEND, CHANGE, OR ALTER PHYSICAL LAWS TO ADAPT TO YOUR DESIRED CONCLUSION.  YOU MAKE YOURSELF SOUND DESPERATE, AND DESTROY THE VERY OF ESSENCE AND FOUNDATION OF "RELIGIOUS FAITH".

WHAT A SHAME- A look at the low points in the modern media. HUMILIATION TELEVISION; IT DOESN'T GET ANY LOWER THAN THIS. PT 12.

"BREAD AND CIRCUSES", is a Phrase used to Describe the Degeneration of Society, where the Pursuit of Intellectual Ideals and Civil Discourse disappears, Replaced by the Pursuit of Mindless Pleasure, and the Basic Needs required for Survival being met to the Individuals Satisfaction. 

The Classic Example is the Fall of the Roman Empire.  After Extending its Borders to Encompass much of the Known World, Emperors began holding to Power by providing Extravagant Entertainment to Citizens of the Empire, and meeting the Basic Survival Needs of Food and Shelter.

Politicians came to Realize that the Average Roman Citizen cared little for anything else but a Full Stomach, and Having Their Desire for Excitement, Depravity, and Blood Lust met on a regular Basis.  Control the Mob with "BREAD AND CIRCUSES", and they will forever Sing your Praises.  It is considered one of the Reasons why such Inhuman Monsters like Tiberius, Caligula and Nero were able to Rule for any Length of Time.

Now, I am not saying we are heading into such a Situation in the U.S., and that very soon Modern Day Gladiators, Charioteers, and Condemned Criminals will once again be put on Display to Satisfy the Baser Desires of the Public at Large.

However, there are some Valid Comparisons Between Society Today, and the Roman Empire of Two- Thousand Years ago.  It is not the Type of Entertainment we should be looking at, but what is given up Morally, Intellectually, and Politically if we choose to make Humiliation, Depravity, Irrational Conduct, and the Total Disregard for Consequences a LIFESTYLE CHOICE THAT IS ADMIRED AND REWARDED FINANCIALLY, CIVILLY, AND POLITICALLY.  TODAY, WE MAY CALL SUCH THINGS EXAMPLES OF;  REALITY TELEVISION, TALK SHOWS, COURTROOM DRAMAS, POLITICAL ROUND TABLES, AND CONFLICT RESOLUTION GEARED TO MASS ENTERTAINMENT.

What is even more Absurd, is the PSEUDO- INTELLECTUALS WHO HOST MANY OF THESE PROGRAMS, WHO TRY TO HIDE THE TRUE MOTIVATIONS FOR PRODUCING SUCH MATERIAL, WITH A PRETENSE OF CARING, HEALING, AND PROTECTING THE "VICTIMS."

The Launch made its way slowly towards the east-side landing on Eilean Mor.  Aboard the small craft were Keeper Joseph Moore, Second Mate MacDonald and Seaman Jones, both members of the crew of the Hesperus.

Captain Harvie watched the progress of the launch from the bow of his ship.  He had deep misgivings about the situation that was unfolding, and possibly putting his ship and crew at risk.

However, he had no choice.  The Light on Eilean Mor had been out for days and needed to be activated as soon as possible.  Naturally, the real mystery was not that the Light was out, but that there seemed to be no one on Eilean Mor present to tend the Beacon.  His directions to the landing party were precise;  Check the Lighthouse and the Living Quarters for any sign of the missing men.  If they could not be located, the shore party was to return immediately to the Hesperus.  There was to be no comprehensive search until after the Light was functioning again.

"Mr MacDonald," Jones began, "Is it true what they say, that they have all gone missing?"

The Second Mate sighed,  and turned to the man who was next to him at the stern of the Launch.  ''Lad," he replied, " You know just as much as I do.  The Captain and Moore..." (He Gestured with his head to the man sitting at the Bow of the Launch), "...are pretty tight lipped about this whole thing.  But I say this, the Captain is worried about what we may find, or maybe, what we do not find."

Fiction- Stories, Myths and Legends. THE LEGEND OF THE VANISHING LIGHTHOUSE KEEPERS. PT 3.

A half-hour later, Captain Harvie was in his cabin, located just off the bridge.

The Hesperus was anchored securely just off the coast of Eilean Mor, and the east -side landing was easily visible under the uncharacteristically cloudless sky.

There were actually two landing sites on the island, the other was located on the west-side of the island. However, the east-side landing was preferred because it offered shelter against the turbulent North Atlantic.

Harvie was seated at his desk, and was carefully studying a schedule that rested on it.  Even though he had read it many times in the past few days, Harvie kept returning to it, as if he was missing something.

The schedule was the official document that broke down the Duties, Safety Procedures, Maintenance Instructions and Dates for the landing of new supplies, that every Lighthouse Keeper serving the tower on Eilean Mor had to learn.  Even more important, it broke down the appointed personnel then serving on the island.

Joseph Moore was part of a four man crew that ran the day to day operations responsible for keeping the light operating 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week.  The Manifest of Personnel consisted of :

• James Ducat- Principal Keeper.
• William Ross- 1st Assistant Keeper.
• Thomas Marshall- 2nd Assistant Keeper.
• Joseph Moore- Relief Keeper.  However, Ross had become ill several months before, and Donald Macarthur had been sent in to replace him as an occasional.

The four men worked on a rotating basis. Three men on duty at any one time, with the fourth man given shore leave that lasted two weeks.  At the end of the two weeks the Hesperus would leave the mainland with supplies necessary for the proper operation of the Lighthouse, and to meet the needs of those who were there to keep it running.  The ship would also transport the Keeper on shore at the time to the island to resume his duties.  After depositing its' cargo ashore, the Hesperus would depart, taking a different Keeper for a Fortnights time off.

Harvie put the the schedule in his shirt pocket, and sat back thinking about any possible circumstances that may have been overlooked that could explain the disappearances.  He recalled the conversation he had with Moore just before they cast off for Eilean Mor, regarding the strange and possibly tragic situation. The Hesperus had been scheduled to return to the island on Dec 21, but foul weather had forced a delay.

"I can't understand it," Moore had said to Harvie, while they were standing on the dock as the Hesperus was made ready to sail for the return to Eilean Mor.

Moore had continued, "Jim runs a tight ship. If he could draw a breath, there is no way the light would be allowed to go out."   Harvie knew that "Jim" was a reference to James Ducat, the Principal who was in charge of operations on the island.

"Well," Harvie replied, "could one of the others have snapped, and ... you know..."

Moore cut him off.  "Tommy is as reliable and stable a Lighthouse man as you'll ever meet.  I know Macarthur is an occasional, and was there because of Ross being sick and all, but he knows the business and volunteered as a replacement.  Nope, I'd sooner believe they were taken by a Kraken, then one of them turning on the other two."
